Dr. Elizabeth Paige Walsh, MD

When I saw Dr. Walsh, I was fresh off of surgery to remove what turned out to be cancer on my ovary, only to find out it actually initiated in my colon and spread there. I knew nothing except what happened in surgery. Dr. Walsh was the first person to tell me that I had stage 4 colon cancer and that it was not curable. She was very matter of fact and did not show any empathy or feeling at all. I was alone and she basically told me that at age 46, I had incurable cancer and that no matter what they did in surgery or how much chemo they gave me, it was going to come back. She literally told me that if I didn't do chemo, I would be dead in 6 months and if I did, and did well, that I might live 1-2 years and if I did really well, I might live 5 years. Can you imagine how that feels to be told that for the first time? Well, she was completely dispassionate and un-empathetic. It was clear that she tells people this stuff all of the time because it didn't seem to phase her one bit and didn't… really care how shocking it would be for me. She may be book smart, but this doctor needs to learn to be compassionate with her patients. I am seeking a second opinion too as she gave me no options besides her standard for attack. She left me with no hope at all.
