If I could, I’d give her no stars. My daughter had an evaluation by Dr.Stites. Due to my daughters history she has had many evaluations and they’ve all gone well. This one in particular was one of the most disappointing ones I’ve had. She was evaluated at the Doernbecker CDRC in Eugene. The clinic in Portland is great, but was happened was simply sad. I was told my daughter would grow up to bag groceries and live in a group home. She also used outdated and stereotypical examples when talking about autistic people such as; “she can’t be autistic. look at your bond with her.” or “usually autistic people are social at all and she is”. First of all, she needs to study up on autism and its effects for girls. Secondly, who in their right mind becomes a doctor to only use stereotypes and tell people their children will grow up to bag groceries? She also told me to stop bringing it up that she might be autistic because “she absolutely isn’t. it’s this” *aggressively points to her “evaluation”.… To put it simply, don’t bother waiting a year for you to be put down and talked down to. Find doctors who care and won’t treat your child like a test subject. So happy I got her reevaluated and was RIGHT. The other clinic I took her to was shocked at our treatment and said she clearly is on the spectrum. Do your research and never have her “evaluate” your children.
