Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I think I always wanted to do something helping people. At first I wanted to be a nurse like my aunt and godmother. But then thought about medical law, biomedical engineering, or research. When I realized that these were not really what I envisioned due to lack of frequent hands on with patients, I chose a nursing path. Since then I haven't looked back. Helping, teaching, listening, and caring for patients/people on a daily basis is what keeps me in this game. From my first time working as a CNA, I knew that caring for people would make me happy. After making the decision to pursue advance practice nursing, I haven't looked back. Nursing of any sort lets you work in so many areas of healthcare. Since becoming a nurse practitioner I have worked in wound management, home healthcare, plastic surgery, bariatric/general surgery, urgent care, and endocrinology. I love what I do!What I want my patients to know about me:When I meet with a patient, …I take the time to listen to what they need, about their concerns, and how we can work together to get the best outcome for them. If I run over a few minutes with one patient making sure they are comfortable with their plan of care, I want patients to know I will do the same for them.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:My time outside of work is full of little girl laughter and craziness. I love to spend time with my husband and my 2 young daughters. We enjoy our two large dogs and two furry felines. My husband happens to be the only male in the household, with 2 legs and 4 legs included. My daughters are busy with dance classes, swimming classes, and cheerleading. When we get time, we love spending time with family and going on """"adventures.
