Dr. Ellen Athens, DO

Dr. Athens takes time to listen to patients and address their concerns. She may have to rush through appointments sometimes but she's still an awesome doctor.

I tried to come in as a new patient, while we are on restriction and masks, I called for an appointment as a new patient, I have been looking for a new primary care Physician and Prefer D.O.’s, they didn’t send paperwork for me to fill out ahead of time, they expected me to fill it out in the waiting room while wearing a mask with asthma and claustrophobia, I didn’t get the paperwork filled out, was taken to an exam room where an assistant checked my vitals, and left the room, I removed the mask from my face, then two people came back, and said you have to put that mask back on ( duh, I have no problem with a mask in close proximity to people I don’t know what their hygiene and social habits are, I work in the medical field) you have to wear it when the Dr comes in..... Duh.... I left and rescheduled my appointment, I got a call from the office today and was informed that I will not be a patient of Dr Athens, Good Riddance Athens Clinic, you have a lot to learn about customer care and… service!

This is my second time going to this location to get routine blood work. I am an over all healthy individual. Not overweight, not on any medications, wat and exercise regularly. My family has a history of thyroid issues. It’s important to me to make sure that my body is functioning properly because I am a mother of two. This doctor made me feel stupid for asking to have my bloodwork check my thyroid which should be a part of a routine physical. I did not see Ellen, but the other woman. She was rude and condescending. So angry I even gave this clinic a second chance. They do NOT care about their patients. You are nothing but dollar signs and a piece of meat when you walk through their door. Where is the humanity?

She is the most rude and nasty individual. She just wants to juice your insurance.

I have been the Athens Clinic 4 times. 1 time to see Tara the NP and she was great. The other 3 times to see Dr. Ellen. Everytime I would wait at least a hour to see if not longer not to mention the long wait in the room. Her staff and herself are always rushing around and always have an excuse why they are late. She doesn't take the time to listen. She wants you to make an appoitnment for every little thing. She talks to fast and rushes through everything. My last appointment was gorrific. She was very defensive and rude when I explained my concerns. I've never been to a doctor like her. I have spoke with other people who have went to her. It seems like her long time patients love ger but other do not. I myself will be having my records transferred to a nee doctor.

Ellen is very knowledgeable. When she diagnoses me or my friend, she also hands out informational pamphlets with exercises or detailed descriptions of the diagnoses. She writes out my cholesterol numbers on a paper along with the triglycerides, ldl, hdl, etc. She also hands out a paper about what to eat to keep your cholesterol levels low. She is caring and explains things carefully. I've been going to the Athens Clinic for about 12 years now and I love it.

Many times I have waited 1 1/2 to 2 hours in the waiting room. Then I have waited another 1/2 hour in the room only to have this doctor stay in the room and talk to me 5 minutes. Will never go back!!!
