Dr. Ellen Lyman Derrick, MD

I saw Dr Derrick for varicose veins, vulva veins, and pelvic congestion syndrome. After pelvic and leg ultrasounds, she told me about my leg veins and what she wanted to do to fix them. She also told me I had “restriction”, and she circled an area by the left kidney. I had research pelvic congestion syndrome and knew that Nutcracker Syndrome would be the reason for vascular restriction in that area, yet Dr Derrick neglected to inform me of the syndrome and how serious it can be. I asked my primary care provider to refer me to a different vascular surgeon for a second opinion, and the second surgeon told me right away that the pelvic scan reveled that I clearly have TWO serious vascular restriction syndromes that can cause life threatening problems like deep vein thrombosis, or loosing a kidney, etc. He said I did not need the test Dr Derrick was going to refer me for, and that I was being referred to go see the only specialist in the area for another opinion and further testing. Dr… Derrick might be able to help you look better, but I won’t trust her with my health ever again, I won’t be going back to her. I feel she was more economically motivated that upholding her oath as a medical doctor and putting her patients health first. She should have referred me on to another vascular surgeon for a second opinion, or at least informed me of my condition so I could decide what I wanted to do next.
