Dr. Ellen Boyle Duncan, MD

BEWARE! Dr. Duncan behavior during my visit was unprofessional and deeply distressing. I came to her needing help. As a cancer patient with years of severe back and muscle pain, I attempted to answer her questions carefully. When I paused briefly and spoke a few words, I was scolded twice for, "interrupting". I was then accused of being disrespectful despite simply trying to explain my medical history. The third time I was told I could cancel my appointment and leave if I wasn't going to talk. By this time I couldn't move or speak because I was in shock. I found this interaction humiliating and emotionally upsetting. At 77 yrs old, I have never been treated this way by a physician. The encounter left me in tears with elevated blood pressure. A medical professional should demonstrate patience, empathy and compassion especially when treating vulnerable patients. She has neither.

unbelievable rude physician will never recommend. Disrespectful does not listen

I wish I would have written this sooner, but due to health circumstances this was the first chance. I was referred as an emergency by my ortho. I had a severe fracture that needed repaired and I would need pain mgmt to prescribe my pain meds. I went to her office and waited about 3 hours. I was in severe pain because of a displaced fracture. She came in abruptly and rude wanting to know what she was bothered about in getting me in to see her. She could careless about you. I contiued seeing her because it is extremely hard getting in to see a pain dr. On subsequent visits I NEVER SAW DR DUNCAN. I waited about 2 hours to get my BP taken and handed a RX by the MA. Because my ins had a big deductible I always had to pay for my visit. Ive processed medical claims for over 20 years and found that she was billing as if I saw her which was not the case. Beware of fraudulent billing She also refers your info to some pharmacy and all these creams just show up and billed to your insurance.

Never returned my calls or answered my questions. Don't waste your time.

I have had chronic lower back pain for as long as I can remember. Since Dr. Duncan has been my doctor it has been much more manageable. She listens provides advise treatment and follow up that has helped me immensely. Because of her I am now able to travel, do things with my grandkids and enjoy life with much less pain than I thought possible.

Not a good experience

Last month we had a family member pass away. Unfortunately I had to fly to the east coast two days before my appointment. Dr. Duncan’s very capable staff took over. They had me come in immediately, they took care of my appointment quickly and professionally. They realized what I was going through and went about my appointment quickly but throughly so they knew I was healthy and ready to go in a few hours. Dr. Duncan herself called my pharmacist and had my prescriptions ready for me as I was due to fly out in a few hours. Dr. Duncan, Dr. J and staff took a load off my mind. In what was already a terrible situation of losing a loved one, Dr. Duncan and staff took away many more worries as they made sure I had my appointment taken care of and my medicine in hand. They took a lot of worry out of my trip and I’ll be forever grateful to them. Thank you Gina, Megan, Dr. J and of course, Dr. Duncan. Incredible work and superior people skills. If I missed anyone else who helped, I’m… sorry-thanks again!

Poor staff and but buck stops with Ellen Duncan. The staff is very very very unfriendly. They are very scared too ruffle Queen Duncan feathers so much that they look out more to have you set in a very uncomfortable position , in crucial pain because Dr Duncan will not be ask to come to see the patient , until you are sitting like a puppy in pain on a table with no back rest "with severe back pain" they close the door , you wait 10 ,15 minutes in the very uncomfortable position, here comes the queen. Sorry I had never experienced this before. I have seen a lot of doctors.

Dr. Duncan treated me for about 4 years. I liked her in the beginning, felt like she understood. About 3 and half years in, she changed. After her staff failed to follow proper procedures for several months, our relationship started to erode. She blamed me for the issue, and when I pushed back given it was her staff’s responsibility, she relented some but it was clear our relationship had changed. I figured the FDA must have dinged her for records violation. Anyway the last straw was when she basically accused me of selling my meds. I left in tears and immediately found another doctor. I am much happier now. His office is extremely professional and he gives you many alternatives. My advice to anyone who feels attacked by their doctor is to find another doctor. Only you can advocate for yourself and your situation.

So sorry about how Dr. DUNCAN now manages her practice. I was a repeat patient with her over 10 years ago. This woman was a very caring and compassionate doctor. I don't know what happened, only that she is treating her patients as pieces of meat, get in don't talk to me or ask questions. Don't overbook and get greedy, sorry to see she has reduced herself to this
