Dr. Ellen Joy Dutta, MD

I am writing as a former patient of Dr. Ellen Dutta to warn others about my experience. Dr. Dutta correctly identified the root causes of my illnesses — including a severe post-medication (V-related) autoimmune condition and a chemical-triggered allergic disorder from a separate incident — but repeatedly refused to provide appropriate care when those causes conflicted with powerful stakeholders tied to her institutions. Instead of acknowledging and treating life-threatening conditions, she minimized symptoms as psychological coping, destroyed family/caregiver involvement, and declined appropriate testing and independent lab orders that might have confirmed the diagnoses, rewrote medical records to make it seem like there were no psychological games going on, and refused critical interventions as part of common sense care. The organization later interfered with future care in the area. The care at these institutions solely focuses on clinical trials and surgeries almost exclusively… rather than appropriate, evidence-based treatment; independent specialists later confirmed the seriousness of the conditions (though there is no justice for the drug-related origin of conditions and the medical literature is now wiped clean of patients like me). I believe Dr. Dutta’s actions were influenced by institutional and industry pressures rather than patient welfare. If you have post-drug illness or chemical sensitivities, controversial illness (including infections the insurance industry doesn’t like to pay for / treat), definitely seek help elsewhere. I highly recommend a clinician experienced in neutralization allergy testing who will also order independent bloodwork and prioritize patient safety. I cannot recommend Dr. Dutta or her affiliates for such conditions or much of anything. My care continues to be interrupted and interfered with to this day (dumped by 5 primary care physicians and copy tress specialists until I paid out of pocket for independent diagnostics). I was dumped by yet another primary care for no reason as recently as this past year and told to go to naturopathy (despite the need to maintain an allopathic physician on my insurance company’s roster for administrative reasons). The influence of these powerful stakeholders is far-reaching but they will not break my spirit. Don’t let them break you or your family.
