Dr. Ellen Rose Mcinerney, MD

Dr. Mcinerney was my GP for many years. I found her to be not only highly competent, but compassionate and kind. I never felt rushed during my visits, and never waited more than 5 minutes to see her. When Dr. Mcinerney left the practice to work rehabilitation, I was devastated. I have remained with the practice, but I have never found another doctor with her unique qualities. I highly recommend her.

So why no reviews so far on this Doc? Because she is a darling and nobody wants to say anything negative about their experience with this good lady. She is kind to all, though I have been made uncomfortable by the palpable Christian (judgmental) bent present in the office as shown by the waiting room music and the fact that she would not provide for my reproductive needs (I am unmarried and under 25 with a medical condition for which I have been on birth control since I have been 17) though she was recommended to my by someone that was having those needs addressed by her (simple annual exams, etc). Not sure if this is an office policy or not, but she outright refused to provide birth control for me, sending me to an ob/gyn for "that type of care". Sort of ruffled my bloomers. Also, she is often out of the office, either at a different location (not sure if this is the case, or if she is just able to offer her services on a limited basis or maybe she teaches?) or (as I have… been told 3x in the past 6 months...must be nice, not that I am bitter) on vacation. She often requests follow up visits (in my opinion) at too frequent intervals, especially since she is difficult to schedule. And if you travel at all, which I do, forget it. She often appears a bit scattered and uncomfortable using the tech required by the JHMC organization. Now for the good. She is compassionate and seems to listen well, but sometimes appears condescending. I don't think she really feels that in her heart, but sometimes it feels that way to me. I think she is competent, and at the end of the day, that is what is important. However, I often feel like my quality of care suffers due to communication issues and her personal beliefs.
