Dr. Ellen Shannon Story, MD

Dr Story is fine if you need routine care and don’t ask questions. She wanted to treat my autoimmune thyroid condition by checking my TSH only. She wasn’t open to my suggestion of trying an additional medication, despite the fact that there was a recent study in NEJAMA regarding this very idea. I found a new endocrinologist who, frankly, was appalled at the level of blase treatment and substandard care. I will say she was rather nice… until I asked questions that she couldn’t answer. Tread cautiously.

Story does not care about patients in the quality manner she should. She did not attempt to try explaining various diagnosis fully like other doctors who genuinely care does. She is rude, non-personal and nonchalant when she should be ethically supportive as a physician.

Dr. Story was excellent until my primary made a recommendation to change my dose to 125. A new nurse stepped in and told me she decided to change my dose to 125/112 which made me feel awful. The rude nurse told me I had to take it because she was the expert. I came in for bloodwork and she claimed Dr. Story could not see me to explain the change in my dose. Then advised she was putting me back at 125. I went to the pharmacy and it was back at 125/112. I called and did not receive a response. So needless to say if I can't see my endo to get an explanation. I need a new endo. It was like I was talking to a totally different doctor through the new nurse.

Dr. story was great when she first met me and was intrigued by my very rare disease. But after my surgery she just kinda lost any and all concern about me. She only works one day a week so it's kinda difficult to get in with her.....and an endo is my most important dr! Her nurse was great but the rest of the staff in that office was a joke! Seriously the lab did the wrong test on me 4 times! Needless to say I have found a new endocrinologist!
