We found Dr. Avner to see our very ill son after an extensive national review of pediatric kidney specialists. As the senior editor of the standard 2 volume reference textbook of childhood kidney disease:Pediatric nephrology, 6th edition; the world's expert in childhood cystic kidney disases; The Director of the Research Institute of the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin; and a Research Dean of the Medical College of Wisconsin. He lived up to his reputation as a compassionate, talented M.D. who put us all at ease immediately with his engaging matter. He diagnosed a problem that had puzzled many others, set up a care plan for our local physician that allowed us to return home with confidence and a sense of relief. Simply superb!!

His team has developed new genetic therapies and is testing new pharmaceutical agents for PKD. Does not talk down to patients and their families.I recommend him without reservation.
