Dr. Eloy Alfonso Ituarte, MD

You would think with his credentials he would be a very capable physician. This is not the fact and I would be very careful and question the care he provides. In reading these ratings, it is odd that the good ones are simple and generic as if made up to offset the bad ones. My experience with this doctor is almost identical to the other bad reviews.

In my experience of dealing with physicians over the years I have found that Dr. Ituarte has been the most competent diagnostician that I have ever encountered. His recommendations have always been accurate and medications on target, without exception. The VA is lucky to have a physician of such education and qualifications. I have been under his care for over 10 years and dread the time when he retires.

After having this doctor for over a year, I have to change due to several factors including but not limited to:Failure to observe and honor prior agreements with his patient.Failure to prescribe critical medications in timely manner.Failure to communicate with patient in a timely manner if at all.Frequent inconsistencies in prescribing medications.Unsympathetic practices towards patient.Failure to understand the needs of the patient even after suchissues had been discussed and agreed to/acknowledge with patient (false or misleading verbal statements of understanding).I tried my best to be patient with this doctor and give him the benefit of the doubt due to patient load but after so many problems for so long he left me no choice but to fire him and begin efforts to report him to every medical authority who will listen. What's sad is even several other VA medical staff have told me how their glad he's not their doctor and how unreliable he is.
