Dr. Elvert Franklyn Nelson, MD

Dr Elvert did back surgery on me & it was a very positive experience plus he eliminated pain that I didn’t believe would be possible. I’m so lost now that he’s retired!

I had numerous back surgeries and injections prior to seeing Dr Nelson. It took him 2 major surgeries to clean up the mess other surgeons made but I was able to make a complete recovery and go on with my life and enjoy it.

Dr Nelson does not explain himself very well. He doesn't answer questions directly and seems to be distracted easily. Perhaps his age has something to do with that. The fusion he did failed. Now, the second procedure involves more hardware that he won't explain: results, consequences, or what happens afterwards, such as level of pain, limited range of motion, additional medications, if any, phys probs.

Without a doubt Dr Nelson is the best orthopedic surgeon on many levels. His skill as a surgeon is only surpassed by his compassion and kindness. His staff is second to none. His office manager Roberta is such a efficient, kind, considerate person. Several times I had to call her with questions and she always took the time to listen to me, even though she is incredibly busy. I will never forget the kindness and compassion towards me. I could never repay them for helping me through a most difficult time in my life. Five stars is not enough!

Dr Nelson did my lumbar surgery. He did an excellent job. I would recommend him to all.

I had a degenerative disc disease and Dr. Nelson performed a fusion 6 years ago with a great result. He did an innovative laproscopic technique. Because he entered through my left side, I avoided having the major muscles of my abdomen and back cut. This greatly reduced my recovery time. He was the only one in the Sacramento area at the time doing this. He is a brillant and caring doctor who has helped many from their suffering. God bless you, Dr. Nelson.

I was told he was the best, everything was fine until 2 days after surgery, 3 screws came unlose. He was no were to be found. 5 days later I had the screws replaced. I didn't see him again for 7 days, the day he signed my discharge papers. His ego is huge.
