It's not common to find a primary care physician, who treats you as if you, and your pains really....well....matter. It is often, through no fault of "some"...to treat patients like a routine fill-er-up, at the gas station. You know, the way the mindless, superfluous routine of filling up a tank, is almost second nature to most...blind folded. The robotic pull up to the pump, zombied stroll to the side of the car, the day-dreamer pumping of gas, the almost comatose electronic payment on the computerized pump screen, and the glassy eyed peel out of the station. Likened to that scenario; many a doctor, will greet you with their heads buried in your chart, and look up only if you utter words unbeknownst to them. They rarely give eye contact, even if they ask a question. They give you less than 10 minutes to say how you feel, recite android-like "On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worse, how much pain would say you are you in" questions, mechanically scribble on a pad - something to make… you feel adequate, and finish up without as much as a blinking of an eye, as they apathetically stroll out of the room, onto the next unsuspecting patient. Well, that is not the case with Doc E. She comes into the room with a look of care on her face. Not the look of...{sigh} "NEXT!"She compells you to put your trust in her, and tell her the real source of your visit. She informs you that she remembers your face from prior visits, and even recites the outcome of that, or inquires of your health since the previous visit. Instantly reaching out with her warm smile, her gentle pillow-like empathetic/sympathetic tones, as she asks you question after question, after question, in order to get to the root of your ailment. Short of her turning her back to you for a sec to pull your previous visits up on the Comp...she gives you her undivided attention 100% of the time. She hangs on to your every word, and lets the patient know....lets YOU know, she's listening, and wants to help you feel better, as desperately as you desire to feel better. She has been our Doctor for over 10 yrs now, and when she isnt in the office..our sickness can wait another day. We'd rather see her, and get the proper diagnose, and feel better quickly, than to play around with someone else, hoping through trial and error, they're having a good day, and that our ailments are diagnosed corectly. That is not to insinuate that anything of the sort has happened, or that the other medical professionals there are inept. No...certainly not...Not by any means. But once you've been seen by Doc E...you kinda won't want to stray...trust me.She'll become like your favorite teacher in school. Sure the rest are cool....but she gets you...you know what i mean? Good. {phew} glad that's cleared up. In conclusion, let me just say...a visit to Doctor E's office, is an almost guranteed feel better prescription in itself. She's not like the rest folks. Shes better than most, cares most that almost all, and outshines even the highest of ranking physicians....in our book. If she isnt comfortable with the way you are feeling, she is the first to refer you to a specialist, instead of faking the funk by handing you a script for the possible anectdote to "bombassi fever". For these reasons and these reasons alone, we rate Dr. Elyse Erlich one of the highest rating this site could offer.
