Dr. Emile Chawki Salloum, MD

I have received 1st rate care from Dr. Salloum. His office, particularly insurance, can be difficult to connect with, but everyone has been courteous and capable. I have been Dr. Salloum’s patient for a year. His bedside manner is not friendly at times, but he has shown me great compassion, and he is now saving my life for the 2nd time. He has explained everything in detail, and his staff has been great. I will add that I have worked a responsible job in Medicine since 1969, but I would not presume to know nearly what he does about oncology. I trust him implicitly.

The Doctors care and encouragement made great difference in my life. Nine years after lung cancer, I'm healthy and very much alive. I contribute the Doctors positive encouragement as much as the treatment to this. Thank you Doctor Salloum.

I found Emile Salloum, MD to be quite pompous, arrogant, and dismissive. He gave generalized answers to pointed and specific questions of which the answers could help plan accordingly. He actually laughed when a certain question was asked, which was quite inappropriate. I witnessed him checking his watch several times while discussing the treatment protocol, but when it was possible in the conversation, he certainly had enough time to name drop, brag (passive aggressively) about his experience, and detail how many langurs he spoke . As if I would be impressed. He did not cover the intracies of the treatment protocol, did not discuss side effects or effecacy of the recommended protocol. He, like most doctors in corpus, just expect patients to sit back and let him pontificate. Salloum truly made my skin crawl and is quite lucky I don’t file a complaint for some of the thinks he said.

I would not recommend anyone going to this Dr. He is the most uncaring Dr. I have ever ran across!! No one under going Chemtherapy should ever have to feel unsupported from a medical care provider, your life line so to speak.

I've only seen this doctor once or twice since I began going here. The other times I see his assistants. He is not very compassionate, nor do I believe he is the most modern in his field. Very cookie cutter approach to treatment- which in my case has not been helpful.

A wonderful doctor. Always makes me feel better. Great sense of humor.

Dr. Salloum always took his time and explained everything to me about what my treatment was going to be. I also go to MD Anderson but found that Dr. Salloum was often right more than they were and he kept better track of my treatment and progress.

I had some trouble understanding him because of the heavy accent. He did not seem very enthusiastic about his work. He was not interactively engaged or up to date with the latest in the field, more like asking rote questions and plug n' play chemo for cookie cutter cases.

I believe this doctor has a "cookbook" approach to treatment. He follows a standard recipe and when when one recipe does not work he goes to another. He fails to be creative when all the recipes fail and essentially just goes through the same treatment motions even though they are unproductive. I believe he should be more aggressive in his treatment methods and try new cutting edge treatments when the old standards are not working, or call in someone who is.
