Summary
I knew I wanted to be a doctor at a very young age. My mother inspired me-she raised my sister and me as a single mom and was a medical technologist. I used to spend time with her at work and enjoyed watching her discover, for example, what antibiotic might cure an infection. my mother, my cousin, who was a radiologist, had an important influence on me. I loved it that he could look at a "picture" and tell what was wrong with a patient in order to assist in their care. With all the advances in radiology, and knowing that most providers at one time or another need images of their patients to help in the care of them, I thought radiology was perfect for me.
