Dr. Emily Ghilarducci

I grew up in the South Sound, and after leaving to attend college and graduate school, I returned to the Northwest, an area I love. I serendipitously met my husband while working at a birth center on the Texas/Mexico border. We have been married for over two decades and have two teenage children. When I was in college, I heard a talk about childbirth in America and realized that midwifery encompassed the things I was passionate about: science, psychology, spirituality, preventive healthcare, and the empowerment of women through knowledge. I joined Kaiser Permanente after becoming disenchanted with the fee-for-service model of care. I love the collaboration between specialties within this organization, and I have been able to grow and learn while practicing here. I am also clinical faculty at the Seattle University and University of Washington midwifery programs, and in 2015, I was honored to be a recipient of preceptor of the year from our national organization.
