Dr. Emily Ann Poland, DO

I am a patient due to recurring infection. I am trying not to spend 1500$ in the emergency room. So I prudently call Emily’s office. They call me back the next day and tell me I have to have labs done. The lab closes at noon so at this point I can’t go get the labs done until the next day. We are three days into this infection that I was trying to treat early and avoid going to the ER for. When I have to go to the ER they tell me I should have seen a GI doctor. I now am dehydrated and have chills because the infection is getting worse. I call the office again because I have sent the labs. The labs take 3-4 business days for results. I ask if I can get antibiotics now since the labs are sent. I’m told No she doesn’t want to give you antibiotics so if you need to go to the ER then go ahead. When I go to the ER it costs me 1500$ to be seen, the ER physician is not a GI expert, they then consult none other than Emily Poland to find out what antibiotics she recommends on an infection that… they have NO lab results on yet and Emily gives her best recommendation. Now my question is this. How much does Borland Groover and Emily Poland get paid for a consult because this is suspect. I understand why labs need to be done pre-antibiotic to determine the bacteria and sensitivity. However what I do not understand is allowing a patient to get sicker instead of treating them empirically while waiting for results, considering the symptoms are identical to the last infection three weeks ago.

I went to this dr worried about problems I was having and in tears. She never asked key questions and only kept repeating the same statements over and over again. Not only that but didn't give me correct information about my options. I strongly suggest avoiding this dr!
