Dr. Emily Sherrill Riser, MD

Dr. Emily Riser is both very professional and thorough. In our discussions, she answered all the questions I had and then some. You cannot teach passion and kindness, but she has got both!

The doctor herself is awesome but it is really difficult to get anyone on the phone. You can leave messages but I've never had a single call returned. When I checked out at last apt the individual was eating and just waved me off saying someone will call you. They never did.

I had been diagnosed 9 years ago at the MS Center of Atlanta. It took me over three months to get my first appt. She had little to say to me. She ordered an MRI. On the next visit she walked in and said "well, you DO have MS". She had all of my records for the 9 years prior and had to confirm my diagnosis.?!? Her staff is beyond rude and I actually mentioned it to Dr Riser and she gave the impression that she didn't really care. On my last visit I was trying to tell her about some unusual episodes I'd been having. In the middle of my 30 second description, she was up and out the door without any interest in what I was trying to tell her. I cancelled my last scheduled appointment. I didn't want to waste her time and I certainly didn't want to waste mine. I'm presently looking for a Dr that might care. I've never felt like anyone in that practice cared. (I have only been a patient of hers for a little over a year.)

THE OFFICE STAFF ... (EXCLUDING THE LAB PERSON) ....HAS A VERY UGLY ATTITUDE. THE RETURN APPOINTMENT RECEPTIONIST NEVER HAS A SMILE ON HER FACE NEVER TRY TO UPLIFT YOUR DAY THE NURSE LOOKS AT YOU AS IF TO SAY SHE DONT WANT WHAT YOU GOT. NEVER FEEL AS THOUGH ANYONE IN THE OFFICE REALLY CARES. DR RISER IS SWEET BUT IN TO BIG OF A HURRY. SEE US AS PEOPLE WITH FEELINGS NOT JUST AN ILLNESS PLEASE ACT AS IF Y YOU ARE CONCERN.

She's a quaçk...told me I shouldn't talk to others with MS because "Misery loves company"

I have been her patient for 9 years. Her staff is incredibly rude. You will never get a call back for anything, emergency or not. Emily herself already has in her mind what she wants to discuss in your appointment and refuses to listen to you. She will talk over you not answer questions and ignore what you are saying completely. This woman cares more about being the "best MS doctor" in Birmingham than the quality of life her patients endure under her care. Never met anyone who cares less.

Doctor Emily Riser is extremely negligent and does not care about the well being of her patients. She is inconsistent, rude, and does not respond in a timely manner. If you are seeking a neurologist that cares I suggest you go elsewhere.

I have been an MS patient of Dr. Emily Riser for over eight years, and have always received excellent care from her and all of her staff. I had been suffering from the disease's effects for several years before coming to her. Others had not given me much help. She gave me hope for a normal life, or, as well as can be expected with MS, and has continued to give me personal attention. I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr riser is a very nice lady but I think she has too many patients.. I can NEVER get seen when something new arises. Her staff is super unfriendly and could care less anything about me, I'm calling them telling them new symptoms and they refer me ER. And then have the audacity to tell me they can give me an appointment in 3 mo. I hate when I need to ask them for paper work for work or to fax any authorization form they are so rude to me. Not sure if dr riser knows how unprofessional her staff is, but I have no intentions on attempting to see her again.

It seems that finding a doctor that is able to help my situation is not an easy task. In addition, having an office staff that is helpful and compassionate must be a thing of the past. After a year, I still don't have a diagnosis and the staff here seems to want to "get you in and out". Dr Riser is nice, was just hoping for some results after already seeing so many others. And there has been NO follow up after my visits. Very disappointed.
