Dr. Emily Kate Ruether, MD

I saw Dr. Rutherford, c/o significant neuropathy, loss of balance and freq. falls, numbness in legs and feet. Explained that I was having difficulty getting any Dr. to take my symptoms seriously and that they were progressive. She examined me and unknown to me she diag. me with OCD about my health. She never discussed this with me nor informed me of her special Dx. for me. Nor did she prescribe a treatment plan. (all of which constitute malpractice on her part.) I was sent for an EMG that I scheduled myself. Her paperwork (OCD) caused the EMG Dr. to dismiss my symptoms completely. I insisted he do the EMG anyway. He apologized after the EMG explaining that I did indeed have Neuropathy. I then Schedule myself for a Brain and Cervical MRI. I was indeed found to have "Myelomalacia" with a significant lesion at C-4, necessitating Cervical Lam. Surgery at 2 levels before further permanent damage could occur. I will never recover or regain the damage done. I feel her knowledge base and… clinical skills are sub-par and cannot recommend her. Her incorrect dx. has since followed me to 3 other physicians. I am considering legal action to make her remove her incorrect dx and vindictive dx. that is now a permanent part of my medical record which has already caused me unnecessary delay in care and medical/surgical treatment. In reading her other evals, I found another pt. with Cervical Myelopathy that she also misdiagnosed.

Dr Ruether is very knowledgeable, professional and timely! She explains things well and answers questions patiently. We have never had to wait long at all.

I am very disappointed in this doctor who offered no help for me from suffering from multiple horrible daily symptoms from having long term severe cervical myelopathy and it's damage that it has caused.I thought if a doctor doesn't know what's wrong with you that they should do there homework if they truly love there job.Michigan medical help seems like patients are just a number for walking into the office visit $$ sad.
