Dr. Emily Elizabeth Watson, MD

I'll be honest. I saw Dr. Hooi many times. She was a pretty standard rushed fast-talking doctor and did the annual exams quickly. She would answer questions quickly if asked. She seemed ok, so it felt natural to continue utilizing her when I unexpectedly got pregnant. She continued on in her rushed manner, but things got worse during pregnancy. The office got more and more overbooked. I'd arrive to an appointment half an hour early and have to wait an hour past my appointment time to see the doctor. She was obviously overbooked. The staff seemed fine but just as overworked. But she was very very wrong in her management of my delivery. She would not budge in placing me in a "one-size-fits-all" model of how she wanted me to deliver. I wish I had gotten another opinion at the time, because every OB I've spoken with since cannot fathom why she insisted I deliver according to the protocol she did. Because I trusted her and thought she knew what was best, my baby and myself were… needlessly put at extreme risk resulting in emergency surgery, a lengthy hospitalization for my baby, and over $95,000 in insurance claims. I was very distraught, angry, a complete wreck while I was in the hospital. Dr. Hooi came to my room 2 times during my entire stay, both visits less than 5 minutes and rushed as usual. Despite my being a complete emotional wreck, she did not express concern or remorse. I was just another patient on her checklist of "things" to do that day. My husband was appalled by her bedside manner. To this day, my husband and I are unsure if some of the health and developmental issues our baby has are due to the complications of the birth. We have been told to be on continual watch for these red flags by our pediatrician because of the birth circumstances. Please, if you want a doctor that really listens to you, seek out someone else.

I have to say I found Dr Hooi in my late 20's. I had been looking for someone that was a good enough fit. I had some pain issues and they were in full effect when I had my first appointment with Dr Hooi. after 14 years and countless doctors who basically told me to go home and take a midol, Dr Hooi saved the day. she is a terrific Doctor with a lot of patience!!! I also have PTSD and Dr Hooi has been so great at helping me feel more comfortable and really cares about my stress level. I couldn't be happier with this doctor and highly suggest her when my friends are looking for a new OBGYN....I can't say enough good things!!! you might sit in the waiting room for a while but the time she spends with you and the patience she has is WELL worth the wait!!

She has such a great personality! He's always cheerful and makes you at ease. I have a biopsy with her while pregnant and she made me feel so relaxed and calm.

She is kind, caring, compassionate, and helpful. Ive been to several different obgyns before I chose Dr Hooi. She is great!

when i first found out i was pregnant witth my 3rd child i started looking up ob/gyn doctors in the austin area! i never had to look for a doctor as my hubby was in the military & i would just go to the clinic on base & be well taken care of. anyways, so i looked one up & came across emily hooi. i read the reviews & she seemed like a good & caring doctor. when we first met she seemed like we found a great doc, then as the appointments came i didn't really feel to great about her. she seemed like if she was always in a hurry to get me out. it would take forever for her to see me then seemed like she rushed me out. she would also act like she would help me get up after checking the baby's heartbeat & would just move her hand once i reached for hers. closer to my delivery i just didn't like going to her anymore. once i did deliver she wasn't even the one that delivered my baby. the whole 3 days i was in the hospital i didn't see her at all. the ladies at the front desk too seemed lazy &… somewhat rude & the after hrs nurses i spoke with were just straight up rude. i will not being going back there if i decide to have another child.

Emily Hooi is an excellent physician. She is a perfect balance of being personal and professional. Dr. Hooi consistently makes the extra caring effort to make her patients know that she cares while providing them with the best care possible.

Love her!! She's a great listener and never makes you feel like you are irrational no matter how many questions you ask. Delivery was smooth and relaxed.
