Dr. Emily E Young, DO

I am very disappointed in Dr. Young. I had my 24 year old son go to her for an evaluation for ADD with the hopes to find the right medication for this problem that he has had for years. Unfortunately, he overslept and needed to reschedule. He was not reminded when he called that the policy was that there would be a $500 charge for a missed or rescheduled appointment. If we knew that was the case we wouldn't have even done the apt at all. But he did do the apt. later and was charged $500 for that session where he did not get a medication advice for his ADD. Rather she said that he was autistic and did not have ADD. Dr. Young called me during his session without warning and spoke to me for about 30 minutes about his childhood and past behaviors. Immediately she asked me, "Have you ever be told that he was autistic?" I was in a work meeting and left to talk to her outside the building. I did not know she would be needing my feedback or insight ahead of time. This was not… anticipated and shows a lack of preparation to communicate that ahead of time and a lack of respect for my time and emotional well being. His regular therapist disagreed with that assessment as do I. So in short, we paid $1000 to be told our son was autistic and not get the medication we were seeking for his life long problem. To make matters worse, Dr. Young did not respond to my 2 emails. I was shocked to see the $500 cancellation fee on my credit card and asked her to reconsider that amount as the apt. was rescheduled. But she had her secretary tell me that my request was denied. Navigating the mental health challenges of your adult son is very difficult. Paying out of pocket for this kind of care is very difficult. Families need to be warned of this policy and lack of communication. Please be warned of this if you are considering working with Dr Young.
