Dr. Emma S Zargarian, MD

I was a patient of Dr Z's from 2010 - 2014. I never thought to leave a review somewhere until I just had a great experience with my current gyn, which put into light how horrible my experience with this office was. Here's a list of all the things I had trouble with at her practice: - during my FIRST digital examine, the person examining me jammed multiple fingers in at once, causing me to bleed. I was 17. - Dr Z repeatedly insisted I needed an STD test, despite being in a committed relationship, because "you're young, people make mistakes!" She said the same thing to a young married friend of mine. She never suggested this to my mother. - they insist on doing a yearly pap smear, despite current thinking saying you only need one every 3 years. (unless your pap is irregular, which mine was not) They were also not gentle with the pap smears, causing me to bleed every time. - I was out of state for school. I needed a birth control renewal. My pharmacy tried multiple times… to get in touch, eventually being told "she needs an appointment before we'll renew". That Friday, I finally had time between classes to call and explain I was out of state. I kept going to the office voicemail, which said they were open on Fridays...so I went through to the emergency nurse line. She proceeded to berate me, telling me that the office was closed and I should have known that, and that she wasn't going to help me because I was a poor planner. When I asked how was I supposed to know the office was closed, when their stated hours said it was open, she changed course and told me it was still my fault for not calling sooner. This is the incident that was the final straw - I switched to my schools doctors, who told me I in fact did NOT need a pap smear to renew my birth control (but were more expensive with my insurance). The incident that made me decide to finally speak up was this - my prescription ran out but my pharmacy didn't alert me nor contact my doctor. When I emailed my doctor on a Saturday, I was prepared to be berated, or at least have to wait until Monday. They apologized for the issue with my pharmacy, and got me a new script on Sunday. Because they have Saturday office hours in case of emergencies.

I've been seeing Dr. Zargarian for my entire adult life. She delivered my son, performed a vaginal hysterectomy, and helped me and my family with other issues. I find her to be patient, willing to spend time to explain things thoroughly.

I agree that Zargarian greatly oversimplifies the problems and solutions related to obesity and weight loss. She told me to "just dance." And to the Nov. 19th reviewer: there is a line between body-shaming and sincere honesty. As long as youâ??re just guessing about other patientsâ?? posts, donâ??t be a weight bully, which, Iâ??m guessing, you are.

I have been a patient of Dr. Zargarian since 1982 and I have never considered changing...ever. I have several friends and family members who have gone to Dr. Z and absolutely love her. She is professional yet compassionate, doesn't rush you and spends time explaining each visit and concern you have. She and I were pregnant with our first child together in 1984 so it was very meaningful to share that experience with her. She delivered my 2nd child in 1986, performed a C-section and tubal ligation and most recently a full hysterectomy. You can depend on her to follow up with you pre and post-op and answer any and all questions as well as give support. Most recently, in the operating room she even made sure I had my favorite opera aria on the music station before I went under anesthesia. I simply cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Z as she has been there for me each and every time I have needed her expertise and guidance. I fear she will retire before I'm ready for that!… She is an extraordinary surgeon and doctor and I would recommend her highly.

I would highly recommend Dr. Zargarian to anyone. She is experienced and knowledgable. She does not beat around the bush and will give you honest answers, which I'm guessing some people on this site do not like. I, personally, prefer that in a physician. One thing I appreciate is that you meet her in her office, clothed for the first time. I hate meeting an OB/GYN for the first time wearing a paper gown. You meet her in her office, discuss any concerns you have, then you are taken back to an exam room, have your exam, and then back to the office to discuss what she found. Subsequent appointments, you start in the exam room and still discuss things in her office, clothed. It's just a wonderful dignity to find with an OB/GYN, and I can't believe it is so unusual to find. Wait times can be somewhat variable. I had anywhere from 10 minutes to 60 minutes. Typically, though, the wait time was 30 minutes or less. I guess this depends on how much time is needed with prior… patients. They typically do not seem terribly overbooked, but she takes all the time needed with each patient, which can sometimes slow things down.

I was with Dr. Zargarian for approximately 10 years. I developed right sided pain and after diagnostic studies decided to have the right ovary removed. She pushed for a full hysterectomy which I did not want or need. Following the surgery I never heard from her regarding how I was doing. Also found her to be insensitive at times.

She's flip and disrespectful if you're overweight.

Doctor Zargarian saw me throughout my pregnancy. Every time I was in her office I felt rushed when asking her a question about swelling in my legs and feet I was told to not eat so much salt. I don't even eat a lot of salt and the little I do eat is due to having an over active vegus nerve problem that she would have known had she read my file. In my 9th month she saw me and said everything was looking great! We set my date to be Induced she told me after my exam I would have some bleeding and it was normal. The next morning not even 24 hours after seeing her my water broke. I went to labor and delivery where my heart rate and my babies heart rate crashed and we had a stat C section and she was no where to be found. After all of that and my child being in the NICU for two weeks it came time to take off the strips from my incision from my C section. Low and behold it had not healed right which I had called her about a time before she said everything sounded normal. That day I took them… off to find not only my wound open in the middle and red from the strips again she could not be reached by the hospital. So why have a doctor who is never there? What a terrible experience I have had with her I would never tell someone to use her services.

Office staff is nice. That's where it ends. Zargarian's rude and insensitive. Very late to my routine procedure. Hospital experience was extremely stressful.

Professional and pleasant staff are the entree into this wonderfully caring and knowledgeable professional. Just had a hysterectomy performed by Dr. Z.and knew I was in the best possible hands for the procedure. Goes to great lengths to explain findings following each examination and her bedside manner has been consistently warm and compassionate. Fortunate to have been herpatient for over 25 years.
