Dr. Emmanuel Nwapa, MD

Should have read the reviews on this office. We were referred by our primary and were able to set up an appointment. The Dr. wasn't available so we got set up wuth his assistant instead. First appt was ok Abe prescribed a medication. Was told to follow up in 3 weeks for an appointment and haven't been able to get a hold of them since. Even the pharmacy can't reach them to refill the prescription. We have called 50 times over the last 3 weeks tryint to talk with anyone to get help. The answering service says they don't take messages so no clue why they even have that. You then only have a 3 hour window before their two hour lunch followed by another 2 hour window during which the phone gets nothing but a busy signal. Tough to comprehend someone in this line of work that disregards the well being of their patients especially those that are obviously in need. Beyond disappointed and can't recommend against this office enough. Poor example in every way. Have already made an… appointment with a different company after 5 weeks of no contact. You should look elsewhere if you are actually looking for help. You will not find it here.

I am torn on this review. While my interactions with Dr. Nwapa himself were very good, My most recent appointment with Cindy (?) was troubling. I am not a fan of having it be implied that I am a drug addict or a drug seeker by my psychiatrist. I feel that this individual has a serious issue with beside manner and she is certainly not understanding or caring. I was exceptionally personally offended by her words and actions as well as her ability to make you feel like she is not listening. I would avoid this practice unless you can deal directly with Dr Nwapa. I will be immediately discontinuing all prescriptions from this place and seeking out a different mental health doctor and plan.

I didn't even say anything to him and he started yelling at me. Unacceptable.

I find him to be a excellent Dr. But not everyone would agree. Whats good for me, might not be good for you. He has helped my daughter and me though out the years.

Doesn't listen to ALL my needs of meds. I feel he has done a good job in getting me off of two meds ,But not good in the replacing them. Appointments are always late. Thinks that if im getting enough sleep,theres nothing else to be concerned about. are friendly in person,but never return calls or answers the phone-always being on hold for more than 10 minutes.

BEST DOCTOC IN TOWN.

We liked Dr. Nwapa. He seemed to care about what was going on with my son and offered good suggestions and medication to try. He seems knowledgeable and sincere in trying to help my son.

I think he is great. I've been seeing Dr. Nwapa for 7 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else

The office tends to be like a zoo, but he knows what he's doing and I have no regrets having him monitor my son's medications.

He has been treating my 16 yr old daughter for bi polar disorder. He decided to change her medication after several months because of weight gain. Aside from the weight gain, the medication was treating the disorder great! He did not gradually bring her down off of the medication before switching, but instead she quit cold turkey. After several horrible weeks of struggling she ended up at Montevista. Coincidentally, Dr. Nwapa oversees all of the youth while there. My daughter was having a horrible time, screaming, violent, tantrums. Dr. Nwapa purposely pushed her buttons to set her off, then belittled her and told her to grow up. He also put her on unit restriction and told her she was staying longer for cursing at him. You have a child that was inappropriately taken off medication, locked up, then antagonized by her doctor....how on earth should she have been expected to act?!?! When in fact it's his fault she is there to begin with This man would be hard for an adult to… tolerate let alone a child! We will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back to him!
