Dr. Eric Dean Batts, MD

I was treated for breast cancer with chemo therapy and continued hormone therapy. I have had nothing but great care from Dr. Batts. He’s very knowledgeable, answers and explains all my questions. His nursing and office staff are very competent and professional. I feel pretty fortunate that he practices in my area.

Speaking from experience watching a loved one, I wouldn’t let this guy near my family ever again.

Took 13 weeks to get a tissue sample to see what second chemo pill to put my mom on. He is unprofessional self absorbed I would recommend him for a dog. Now my mom is on hospice dying I would get a different referral if you get batts as your dr.

I read some of these reviews before my appointment and people seemed to have mixed experiences, so I wasn't sure what to expect but had a wonderful experience today. I was referred to him due to unexplained bleeding for a year and an inconclusive surgery, so I visited for both hematology and oncology concerns, both of which he was incredibly knowledgeable. He listened to my symptoms patiently and did not ever make me feel rushed, he then went through each of the symptoms and the possibilities and was able to arrive at a conclusion during the appointment and order labs, which I was impressed were done immediately, in his office. Very grateful to have seen such a kind and knowledgeable doctor.

Self absorbed physician whose main topic of conversation is how busy he is, how many "hundreds" of patients he has and that you don't get any extra time or consideration. Refuses to release life-or-death test results until the next appointment - even though he might have the reports 10 to 14 days earlier. Why, you ask? Because he "does not work on my family time." Is visibly displeased/impatient if you ask technical questions about your diseases (I have Two cancers). Staff incredibly incompetent - either scheduling wrong tests, wrong time or failing to do it at all. If you tell Batts about this, he'll say it's not true - essentially calling you, the patient, a liar. Worst, his clinical recommendations were Incompetent, not helpful and Medically Wrong. I switched to Dr. Chen in Grand Rapids (very good) who put me on a totally new screening/treatment regime. If I stayed with Batts, I could be dead now. Have to ask: "Why did this person become an oncologist? Maybe because he doesn't… care about patients, is not competent to save them and it's okay with him that they will die. What a sick individual.

After initial consultation following mastectomy, I had 2nd surgery prior to starting chemo with Dr. Batts. Support staff failed to follow up and schedule blood draw, failed to schedule port procedure, failed to fax FMLA paperwork for my husband. Still deciding whether to change doctors and facilities.

Dr. Batts is professional, friendly, down to earth and made me feel comfortable.

He's exceptional! Straight forward, kind, compassionate. Answers any and all questions like it was the first time. I credit him with my team of drs. for saving my life.

Dr. Batts is the epitome of what a physician should be. His knowledge and concern for a patient is beyond all expectations. My husband and I will always be thankful for the wonderful care he provided during my husband's battle with cancer. Keep up YOUR strength, Dr. Batts ! Eat lunch !!!!
