Dr. Eric George Catz, MD

after reading many reviews I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Catz was personable, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I recommend him highly.

Went to him within 24 hrs of having treatment for a confirmed asthma attack to establish myself as his patient since the appointment was already set up prior to attack. Was treated in urgent Care by an excellent dr night prior. Was told by the treating Dr I saw the day before that a pulomonary function test will not be good to do since I am heavily medicated from the asthma attack to include anti-inflammatories, steroids both oral and injected and 2 types of bronchial dilators. Meaning I am at the best version of my breathing health, but attained by excessive medication. When I saw Dr catz I told him this and that I was advised any baseline test wouldn't be good to establish that day since still taking the meds and 2 bronchial dilators. He said it's okay it will still establish baseline.... So then he sends me to take two pulmonary function tests (pft) to compare against each other... 1 without meds and bronchial dialators and one with to see the difference... Note, I reminded him… again how I'm already on bronchial dialators and steroids so it wouldn't be a before and after comparison... It'd be an after and after comparison and that if my baseline is established off me being highly medicated to attain those results then when I take the 3rd pft in 3 months it'll look like I got worse when I really didn't ... Just the first and second test was done when it shouldn't be. He said it didn't matter and sent me for the test. Results: both 1st and 2nd test the same because exactly what I told him. You can't do a with meds and without meds comparison if the person is already on meds. He wasted my time... My insurance's money and helped to contribute to why everyone pays more in insurance. A test with no medical value billed to me and my insurance and shared among all of us. Side note: such an unkind person, zero empathy, seemed like he kept all appointments the same even if typical treatment plan doesn't apply (ie doing a pft to establish a patient but when already treating) and also he lied saying he looked at my report from the night prior when I had results showing my asthma attacks and their useful diagnostics,... but he hadn't. Really annoying when people are so arrogant they will not even consider looking at existing medical information.
