Dr. Eric Elton, MD

We went to see Dr. Elton after a nodule was discovered in my husband’s pancreas. This was scary to us. Dr, Elton was very reassuring, not quick to do lots of tests which we appreciated and said what the next steps would be. We are very pleased with the visit overall.

My husband went to the ER with high fever, chills and uncontrollable shaking. After tests we were told he had a bad infection and the biliary ducts were clogged and had to have the stent removed. He was admitted late Saturday, he was to have the stent removed on Monday. The following day Dr Elton came by and said he did not want to wait until Monday due to the infection and was going to do ERCP as soon as the OR was available. He met us in the gastro OR section (my husband was the only patient) and again explained what had to be done-he was very kind and thorough. After the procedure he came to see me and explained what he did, he removed the stent, but there was no need to replace it, which was good news. The nurse later told me Dr Elton came in on Sunday to do the procedure because the infection was very bad. We went to see him 2 weeks later as a follow up; he took his time to listen to my husbands concerns, very patient and seemed very caring. We never felt rushed, he answered all… our questions. We are very happy with Dr. Elton. His staff was great and very friendly. I saw negative reviews that is why I had to write this long recap of our interaction with Dr Elton. BTW my husband had another Dr at the same Gastro Dept who is no longer there. Comparing both I say Dr Elton would be our choice if we had to pick.

I have had three colonscopies with Dr. Elton now. I have found him to be excellent and will continue to place my trust in his care. I found his skill to be outstanding, his explanation of the risks excellent and he has really good tools to work with at the Evanston Hospital.

This was the worst doctor's appointment I have been to in my life. My nurse asked if it was comfortable with Dr. Elton being accompanied by a medical fellow. While I agreed to this 'accompaniment', Dr. Elton was only present in the room for the last 10 minutes of the appointment. My entire appointment, exam, and evaluation was performed by this medical fellow. When Dr. Elton did enter the room, he was impatient and did not listen to my concerns or address my questions. It was clear that both men were frustrated with my inquiries and how they impacted the length of the appointment. Neither doctor took the time to understand my concerns and did not give much credence to my own observations and experiences of my symptoms.

during colonoscopy Dr. Elton did not interpret signs of my significant discomfort and increase my sedation. He obviously did not do any minimally look over my case to realize i need more sedation as i have been on pain meds for awhile which requires a stronger strength sedation, I remembered everything and discomfort was communicated. Spent about 2 min. with me , before and after. Very much a feeling of an assembly line approach. In addtion the nursing staff told me to get dressed , they needed the room,gave me one cranerry juice, moved me to an empty room with one chair, did not check on me, till my ride came

Had no confidence in him. Entirely disinterested in helping me resolve my problems.

Didn't seem interested in my issues or questions. Then when I called his office to ask a question, he didn't even call me back. He just had the nurse call with pretty generic useless advice. He might be a good surgeon but terrible bedside manner and I don't think he particularly likes people.

I am stunned by previous reviews. I found Dr. Elton to be extremely caring, intelligent, and attentive. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Did not seem to like all my questions. He also never even asked me if I had heartburn issues. I forgot to tell him, walked out and remembered as I was in the elevator. I then knew I needed a different doctor. Would probably be ok for men who don't ask questions, but then again, he was not thorough with me.

If you want an MD with ZERO people skills and an assembly line approach to medicine, this is your man.
