Eric Gladstone

Dr. Eric Gladstone does not look like a rebel. But looks can be deceiving. He is a “nocturnist.” That is a hospital-based doctor who chooses to work nights.

“My parents were strict with bedtime. So, naturally I decided to only work nights.”

A self-described night owl, Dr. Gladstone says he enjoys the type of care the nighttime hours allow him to provide.

“It’s strictly medicine and making sure the patient is safe, comfortable and getting what they need 24/7. I have developed the ability to put patients at ease. People feel like they can talk to me. It makes for a good patient-doctor relationship.”

In addition to his parents, Dr. Gladstone credits his late grandfather, a World War II veteran who lived to be 99 years old, for his love of medicine.

“A total family man and a person of integrity. He lived life to the fullest and encouraged me to pursue my dream of medicine.”

When not in the hospital after the sun goes down, you might find Dr. Gladstone travelling. One of his …favorite trips was to Alaska.

“I love nature. The hiking, the ocean, Alaska has everything. It’s the last great frontier.”
