Dr. Eric J. Houchin, MD

My father died a little over a month ago suddenly. My mother found him dead in bed when she woke. Houchen had been treating my father for what he said was crohns disease. My father's pain continued on with appointments dragging on for weeks but never seemed to fix the issue. After my father passed both my mother and myself attempted to reach Houchen to go over what may have happened and to review his last labs. It has been over a month with no response from this doctor. What a terrible thing to do... to leave a family waiting for answers. We reached out to bronson medical records and they sent us the wrong form via mail so they said we'd be receiving the correct one shortly. We have yet to see this. Something is not right here and I will advocate for my dad since he can no longer. I hope you can read this, Houchen, and decide to do the right thing and reach out with any information or insight into what may have occurred. Imagine it was your father that was found dead, Imagine it was… your mother having ptsd and saying "I have nothing left to live for", Imagine holding on to the last water bottle he drank out of because that's the last thing he touched, Imagine your father being taken away before he could be present for your wedding or the birth of your kids, Imagine having to care for two families in the midst of his death, imagine laying to rest your grandmother, dog, friend and father all in less than a year. Now Imagine picking up that phone and giving us some peace of mind. Now please stop imagining and do the right thing.

Um ok, positivity stories? Really? How about "real life" stories. It is ridiculous that you are so blatantly pushing "everything positive" about your own facility and care providers, and not providing "real" or "all" the information. This place is NOT for recovering addicts. Dr Houchin suffers from the same problem affecting many doctors, but not all, treating addiction. I moved to Kalamazoo with my wife over 4 years ago from San Francisco. I had been in recovery and clean from opiods (the only drug that made me want to do anything for it) for well over a year. I was on a regimen of Suboxone, and thus requested Houchin to continue the same. He did so, after of course administering numerous drug tests which were passed without problem. Fast forward, well over 2 years later, and I happen to "fail" a drug test. I tested positive for a drug which had nothing at all to do with opiods, which again is why I sought a doctor in the first place. I never asked for a doctor to make me drug free,… I requested to be opiod free. Well he immediately cancelled my script, after my taking suboxone for almost 4 years, every single day!! What do you think that does to a person? Well of course now I do heroin again because I could not get suboxone and it is easy to find heroin, thanks houchin! You are the best! So now I am doing multiple drugs, the only one of which makes me want to rob a bank is opiods, and houchin sent me away to be a opiod addict again because I was doing a drug completely unrelated to it. Is that the oath doctors take now? Lets treat outside what the patient requests, and cancel what is working for them to keep them off the only drug that makes them want to do anything for. Just wow, I could write a book about how this is the dumbest idea in the world. I really for sorry for probably the numerous people that just wanted to get off opiods but were sent away because the were smoking weed. But hey! At least he was able to buy his wife a mazzerti! Thanks Doctor, you are the best!!

Dr. Houchin was late for my appointment, didn't apologize that his tardiness affected my work schedule, rushed through my examination, offered little in the way of explanation for my illness, never spoke to me in personal terms and left abruptly. I came away with the feeling that Dr. Houchin really did not care about my personal health.

Dr. Houchin has been a wonderful physician and I gladly drive over an hour to see him. :)
