Dr. Eric Owen Kortz, MD

My doctor suggested Dr Kortz for hernia repair. This despite a friend of mine having two miserable weeks (supposed to be just a "few" days) and multiple revisits to fix blocked tubes, etc. before he began to heal from his Kortz hernia surgery. I decided to go ahead anyway and setup an appointment. Over an hour later of sitting in a patient room with no explanation as to lateness, I had to leave because of another appointment. I was told I would be contacted to reschedule. It's now 4 days later with neither an apology from doctor or office nor a rescheduling call. I've decided to look elsewhere to have the surgery performed.

Family member is in his care currently. Patient went to the emergency room about pain she was in and had a CT scan then was sent to the main hospital after the emergency room radiology department found that she needed surgery. Dr Kortz never showed up to talk to her until her third day in the hospital and then didn’t want to acknowledge how she was feeling, ie the pain wasn’t going away. She did finally have surgery due to another doctor stating that they would do the surgery and advise if his team was needed if they weren’t going to. Now, Dr. Kortz is unresponsive and nowhere to be found. He couldn’t even bother to meet with the family to advise how surgery had gone, instead sending out a resident to talk. (Incidentally he never bothered to even acknowledge the patient’s family in his brief appearance.). Lack of compassion and care for both his patients and their families and zero reliability. Incredibly unimpressed and looking forward to discharging ASAP. Go see someone else who… is invested in yourself or your loved one and who will provide ACTUAL care.

Great experience with caring staff and Dr Kortz was always helpful and so knowledgeable

Left town on vacation after the surgery that he performed developed major complications. My mom died!

One of the best surgeons I have ever worked with. Has saved many lives, including my own. Forever grateful !!!

I am so pleased with Dr Kortz, he did my incisional hernia repair surgery. He was everything I want my Dr/Surgeon to be. I pray I never have to have another surgery, but if I do, Dr Kortz will be the one I trust to do it. He and his assistant Darlene are awesome.

Very knowledgable and skilled, explains things well, understanding for specialty conditons.
