Dr. Eric Scott Levine, MD

Dr. Levine is very thorough in his exam and knowledgeable in his specialty. I am satisfied with the service provided and will return for subsequent exams and follow ups.

Horrible office, long wait time, over schedule clients and unsanitary. Also the Dr didnt even wear gloves while he examined my eye which I had to mention to him. Overall horrible experience

I have never written a bad review for anyone, until now, and I really tried not to because maybe they just had a bad day. Everyone is entitled to bad days now and then, right? However, too much drama at this office. I went to Dr. Levine because I was referred to him by my PCP. I have now been a few times. I agree his assistant is very disconnected, if not down right rude. I agree Dr. Levine walks in each time without even saying hello. I agree the wait time is uncalled for. You have to wait for him to show up (appointments begin at 8:00 he shows up at 9:00 - every time). Also, you have to wait for Dr. Levine to show up before the office staff can take your payment unless it is in cash because he has the machine with him. The office is not that bad. I don't care about decor as long as I feel my eye issues are important to them. I do not feel that and will be asking for another referral. The biggest issue is that two of the times I was in the office the male assistant was actually… arguing with a patient to the point that the patient asked for someone else to dilate her eyes. The assistant certainly needs a course in office etiquette. The last resort for me was that I had to cancel an appointment due to having major surgery and I received a letter the next day that was also very rude. This Dr. and his staff really need to reconsider why they went into the medical profession. One rude person is enough but to have virtually every staff person, including Dr. Levine himself, was too much.

When I left my last appointment, refusing to make another (that I was pressured into making), come to find out, the office scheduled one for me anyway....WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR DESIRE!! So I get a call at home from the gruff office assistant confirming my next appointment the following day. I told him "What?? I never made an appointment". He had an attitude when I told him that and he tried to get me to show up... UNBELIEVABLE!!! STAY AWAY!!! Read this quacks reviews from other sites too... It speaks for itself!

The only reason I came to see him was because I was experiencing a potential serious problem and they were willing to take me right away. The office is old and tacky and uncomfortable. The "assistant" is gruff like a drill Sergeant and has zero personality. He rushes through a long series of test explaining nothing along the way. I found him intimidating and he made me uncomfortable. He talks to himself when he works. Very weird. The made me wait 50 minutes to help me. The assistant does all the work while I see the doctor chatting with the office staff. It is clear all these test are beneath his skill level. All aspects of my tests were done by office staff, all he does is look into my eyes and read test results by others in his office. One of my appointments I was specifically told my the desk staff and the assist that I wouldn't need any dilation on my next appt, so I drove to it myself and when the doctor saw me he said he needed to dialate me. I told him I was… specifically told I wouldn't need that that's why I didn't bring a driver for me. He got very irritated with me and said "we'll I'm telling you now!" After waiting to see him for my appointment, after all the tests, he greaves me with his presence and marches into the office saying nothing to me. No "Hi, how are you today" or "nice to see you again", nothing. He marches in, goes straight to my chart and reads all the test results, never saying one word to me until the dilation issue came up. Then he tells me what he thinks of my results. He doesn't have a definitive answer for me. He looks confused and unsure of himself and when I ask questions, his answers are short and his body language gives me the impression he's irritated by my questions. I'm 47 years old and have seen my share of doctors in my lifetime and have never seen an operation like this. My impression is this doctor is so full of himself he hires others to do all his work for him and he breezes through his work day. They had 5 people scheduled at the same time as me which created my 50 minute wait, so I feel it's all about the cash. He clearly didn't show any concern or compassion for me but has no problem scheduling me for additional follow up appointments. Ya right, that's not going to happen. 3 was more than enough for me. Then when I'm leaving, the front desk girl nearly demand I must scheduler a follow up appt now. I walked out. NEVER AGAIN! Sorry for the long review, there's so much more to say but my finger hurts.

Front office, though cordial, failed to input accurate information related to the nature of my appointment which resulted in the doctor not even knowing what he was seeing for after he finally did see me some 70 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. Rather than try to accomodate me and offer some flexibility to remedy a problem his front office had created, this so-called doctor, who has the worst bedside manner of any physician I've ever visited for my own care or that of any of my five children, simply demanded that I make another appointment if I wanted him to even listen to the issue I made the appointment to address! I can't imagine there would be an opthamologist in Ventura County less qualified and with a worse attitude than Levine.
