Dr. Eric R Nelson, MD

When I first met Dr. Nelson, my impression of him was, what doctor walks in looks like he just woke up, wearing a big chained necklace. Had a partial knee replacement surgery. Biggest mistake of my life. It's almost 1 year since my surgery, plus I had a knee surgery like a month and a half after the replacement to help bend my knee. Yeah that soo didnt work so much as I can't bend my knee all the way. It still feels like my knee is asleep yet, and on top of it my knee gives out all the time. There's no quick fix or miraculous miracle that will help you. Im in more pain now buddy than I was before the surgery. Thanks for ruining me. 2nd opinion doctor appt coming up with a much more professional doctor.

I saw Dr. Nelson a year ago—the worst mistake. 1) The nurse warned me he was very straightforward. However, he was more than blunt. He was dripping with arrogance and extremely condescending. Should have realized how odd it was for a nurse to give a warning like that. 2)He did not believe that I was in actual pain. He thought I was too young (24f) to have shoulder pain—it would be “1 in a million for you to actually hurt your shoulder, like a lightning strike” and “you don’t play professional baseball.” I said, it is weird I’m experiencing pain, but it does hurt. 3)He described my pain multiple times as being “neurological.” 4)He said, even if I’m feeling pain, since I’m getting older that’s what starts to happen. So he doesn’t believe I’m feeling pain, but also does?5)I left feeling utter humiliation and anger. I had to live with that pain for another year. Someone else believed my pain(snapping scapula), and I’m ok now. There were times I wished I kicked him and said his pain was… neurological, esp when I couldn’t sleep due to pain

If you have other options for an orthopedic doctor. I would use them. This guy is arrogant and condescending. Doesn't come across as someone I would care to ever see more than once. Very dissatisfied.

Mr. Nelson KNEW for 14 months I was septic and had a bone infection. Not only did he have a film showing my knee replacement floating to prove the bone infection....he operated on my knee TWICE while the bone was floating. He was charming and said all the right words at the time. Then suddenly disappeared and lied about where he was getting his next job. It took a fusion of the leg from hip to ankle, cutting off 2 1/2” of infected bone and 4 years in a nursing home for PT to learn to walk. And ALL THREE INFECTIONS HE KNEW WERE THERE STILL ARE AND WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE MY LEG OR MY LIFE. DONT TRUST HIM.

Extremely defensive. Extremely arrogant. Extremely condensending

No stars for Eric. He replaced both my hips and I complained from day one on right side. He said I was just going to have to live with the pain. One of his co des walked by and said "oh my God its half out of the socket" he then had to replace it. Still painfull to this day. Eric also replaced both my knees which he messed up the right side again. This time Mayo clinic in Rochester would not ever touch it to correct it. In the mean time Dr Nelson was asked to leave the clinic. I finally found a Dr in Connecticut who could correct Nelsons mess. Still have pain but at least I can walk straight. I have had a total of 7 surgeries because of him on my legs. Would no recommend my worst enemy to him. This was in Mason City Iowa. Hope he has gotten better. straight.

Dr Nelson answered all questions and explained everything in detail with my surgery. I would refer him to any of my friends and family. His nurses were well informed about everything and very courteous towards me.

Dr Nelson is to arrogant and has no professionalism. Once the surgery is done he considers himself through with the job. I had problems from day 1 right after the surgery, he told me to be thankful that I have mobility. One year later a GREAT Dr redid everything Dr Nelson did and my leg so much better already. There is even a huge difference between the after effects of the surgery. I wont recommend Dr Nelson to anyone and I feel sorry for any patients he is now seeing. Best of luck to them.
