Dr. Eric Philip Omsberg, MD

DO NOT go to this office or see Dr. Omsberg. I was sent to this office by my work health office to get a 4th opinion regarding my wrist injuries that occurred at my job at EMMC. Dr. Omsberg and his staff were not wearing masks. I came in with a mask on and Dr. Omsberg asked me to remove my mask. I refused to remove it because we are in the middle of a pandemic, and he then rolled his eyes at me. When our appointment began he told me that he’d already formed an opinion prior to my examination. When I brought up information that was sent to him, which he supposedly had reviewed prior to the appointment and formed his opinion from, he admitted that he hadn’t actually read it. I had my own copies of multiple health care providers stating that my injuries were work related, and I tried to have him read them. He glanced at one of them, but didn’t read it in full. I had to take back the paper and read it to him out loud. He wouldn’t be bothered to read the other paperwork I’d brought that… stated my injury had occurred at my job at EMMC, and he abruptly decided the appointment was over. I have surgery scheduled on my right wrist soon, and Dr. Omsberg wasn’t familiar with the doctor who will be performing my surgery. Despite this, he still said very pompously that he’s more qualified and would be better at performing the surgery than the doctor I am scheduled with. Please don’t go to this doctor for anything, but also please pray for him to wisen up and wear a mask for his safety and the safety of others due to the pandemic. Have a blessed day y’all!

Recently seen for my low back, not many choices in Maine for a spine surgeon. Omsberg was the closest, he was to the point and honest. Had surgery and very happy. Finally feel like myself again After several years.

Reading all of these terrible reviews for this doctor and learning he had been sued for malpractice, things are now beginning to make sense. I wondered why any doctor would resort to accepting money from insurance companies who are trying to get out of paying insurance claims to injured people. This doctor performs what are called “independent” medical exams. I was ordered to suffer through one of his harassing, aggressive and confusing exams. He then sends misinformation to the insurance company to bolster their case who then pays him handsomely. Reputable doctors don’t who have taken an oath to help the sick do not do these exams and decent people don’t do this to truly injured parties, especially not people who have suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Do your research, he is a horrible person and doctor. I have written 2 reviews and they were somehow both deleted.

I have had a tough go around with doctors and pushing me off. I finally took a friends advice and looked into Dr Omsberg. His staff was incrediable! Got me right in, Morgan the front assistant was truly the best listerner! She is the sweetest. Dr Omsberg did not push injections or medication he went over my MRI and talked about my options. Surgery was what I decided was best, he was great and so was the hospital staff! I am happy with my outcome.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful in regard what was expected from me, the patient. Morgan handled it like a trooper, after a couple of delays. I know I expected to be sore, but the pain I have felt, since I had surgery, was much better than what I lived with for at leas 10 years. He's my hero. No, but seriously, it just seemed like the right timing, as I have tried ALL avenues, conventional and nontraditional methods. Kudos to Dr. Omsberg and the team.

Very upfront, took time to explain what was found on MRI, and everyone in the office was so supportive.

It was a few years ago I saw him for cervical spine problems. He was brusque and uninterested and wouldn't even look at my two sets of MRIs despite serious findings. A charlatan.

He is the one doctor that I have seen who was correct and helpful.

I had ACDF surgery that resulted in new severe pain and tingling down the other arm that was not present before surgery. He refused to admit any error on his part or to give an honest and intelligent explanation for my pain. This went on for months, despite severe insomnia due to severe ongoing pain. My ACDF subsided and he did not tell me, but rather put it in a note that he sent off to other doctors. He discounted the radiologists findings of foraminal stenosis and chose to blame me for overdoing instead. He sent off nasty notes to my PCP and other physicians that said I was doing too much. This led to my need to find new providers and impaired my long search for a new neurosurgeon. I eventually had a corrective surgery by a wonderful neurosurgeon. Dr Omsberg had refused to operate on me saying I did not need it. He verbally abused me several times when I challenged his treatment of me. He would not refer me until I had surgeons calling him. Then his notes were so bad… that he had to do a nonstandard referral. No one should be treated as I was when suffering so much.
