Dr. Eric Isunza Rosenberg, MD

That question will haunt me every time I visit a physician. His immediate impulse was to delegitimize my boyfriends's own account of his symptoms. Never mind the fact that he came into the emergency room with acute fever, septic, delirious only a day prior. He was suffering from pyelonephritis. The IMCU staff, liquid Tylenol, and Vancomycin had sustained him thus far, and "Dr." Rosenberg was set on discharging him despite still having a low-grade fever. I knew the kidney infection developed from a UTI likely from unprotected anal sex, and despite failing to identify the pathogen from urine and blood culture I was set on E coli. Rosenberg wanted to discharge him with levofloxacin, but I knew the pathogen was likely contracted while my bf was taking ciprofloxacin for a sinus infection, so I knew, whether or not the pathogen was E coli, it would be fluroquinolone (the drug class) resistant. When I brought this up to the residents and showed them the paper "Prevalence of and Risk Factors… for Levofloxacin-Resistant E. coli Isolated from Outpatients with Urinary Tract Infection" by Jang, Yoo & Park (2011) that said "The annual rates of levofloxacin resistance of E. coli were 29.49% in 2005, 26.51% in 2006, 40.21% in 2007, 43.20% in 2008, and 31.75% in 2009.," and "the risk factors that affected the levofloxacin resistance rates of E. coli were underlying neurogenic bladder, ciprofloxacin administration history... (etc.)" they asked me to wait for Rosenberg's opinion. Rosenberg told me it was impossible for the pathogen to be E coli because there was 'no nitrites in his blood or urine' which I unfortunately accepted. Later, a urologist succeeded in culturing the uncured pathogen, it was indeed E coli, Dr. Rosenberg had LIED. My boyfriend had been taking levofloxacin now for a month and was experiencing neuropathy-tingling legs, passing out, etc. that he STILL has but is dealing with by taking duloxetine which is "used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in adults with diabetes" when he doesn't have diabetes!! The only reason he hasn't sued is because he doesn't have the money to seek legal counsel. Stay away from this criminally negligent doctor.

Compassionate

Dr. Rosenberg did not project an attitude of a Dr. that wanted to help determine the problem, but seemed to be questioning the patient in a way that was condescending. It almost felt as if we were taking up his time and he let us know that we didn't need to be there but go back to our regular doctor. I am incredibly disappointed.
