Dr. Eric Lemuel Smith, MD

I saw dr Smith for around a yr. My worst issue is anxiety & some PTSD that I have a difficult time admitting to myself. After so long, I stopped seeing him because he’s pretty anti- benzo & I assumed I could get by on my own using psychological tools & at that time I actually could get the same Rx from my primary care. Things didn’t work out that way long term r the years since. Dr Smith was one of only two drs in my life that I could talk to. And that was intelligent enough to help me & without being intimidated by me like others I have seen since. I am on this site trying to look him up again after these years have passed. He is really good & very understanding, regardless of the patients walk or position in life. He was a happy person & easy to talk to and was well liked by patients I met at Lakeside, several years before I began using him as a out patient. I don’t believe he saw many patients outside of Lakeside & I’m hoping this site can help me find him again.

Staff could be a bit more courteous

As "real" as they come. Spoke to me as a person and not as a patient.

Never in the office one whole year of excuses ! His staff is top rate he needs help,

Im just finding out by my doctor she says mr smith put a hold on the one meds that works for me then turn around and lied told my other doctors that my husband didt know what i was taking and he wanted my doctors to stop.When i went with my husband to pic my meds up.my husband tole the drug store he knew what i was taking because he would pick it up sometimes for me..to really no this man go to lakeside hospital and ask when are you going home see how you would like it.

Dr. Smith is by far the best psychiatrist I've ever had. If I still lived in Memphis, he'd still be my doctor. Most psychiatrists get you in and out of their office at the speed of light so they can recommend pills to the next person on the list. Dr. Smith listens and I came to regard him as someone who treats me with genuine care, concern and respect. I want a doctor who looks at me & sees a human being instead of dollar signs. That's what I go. BUT you do have to wait a long time for him if he ends up spending longer than expected with a patient. He won't rush someone out of his office because you're waiting. I'm ok with that. On the other hand...if you need him on his day off, he's very very likely to show up just for you.
