Don't waste your time

Dr. Sobel is very knowledgeable of the disease ILD. He has been wonderful in caring and helping treat this disease. I would recommend him 100% as a Doctor to all.

Dr. Sobel is kind,understanding, very knowledgeable, always available, listens, takes his time and explains everything to me. Best rheumatologist I've had. I've been his patient for many years and I'm very impressed with him, his nurses, and clinic staff! I would highly recommend Dr. Eric Sobel!

Dr. Sobel is a great doctor !!

I went to Dr. Sobel to see if I could get some relief from joint pain, in particular hip and lower back pain that I have suffered from for over a year with no diagnosis. After a brief exam and discussion, he talked about fibromyalgia and brains becoming sensitized to chorinc pain, like a thermostat that was turned up without cause. He refused to order any further testing, saying it would be a waste of time. He recommended physical therapy. I had an MRI of my spine ordered by another doctor, done shortly after that visit, (thank goodness I did not give up after him telling me that!!!) and it was discovered I have a vertebra out of alignment, and a narrowing of the opening where the nerve comes out from the spinal cord, which is causing my extreme pain with standing and walking\, among other symptoms. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. He was not only a complete waste of time and money, but it was very upsetting to be told my pain was basically in my imagination, and… without cause, when I KNEW something was very wrong. Bad doctor! Bad bad doctor!

You couldnt have a better rheumatologist. He truly shows that he cares. Excellent bedside manner, speaks open and honestly and makes sure you are aware of his recommended treatment and the outcomes. I have been seeing him for years, and love him and his office staff.

Dr. Sobel was extremely thorough, provided information in "easy-to-understand" terms, and showed the kind of concern that we wish all doctors would exhibit. Highly recommend

This Dr. Is very rude and has no compassion at ALL! He judged me from the time he looked at my chart with a list of my current medications! Let me start off by letting everyone know why I am on this medicine, subutex, I have suffered for 15 years with severe daily headaches. I never took anything for pain not even tylenol until about 4 years ago. My husband and I have been together for 15 years and we have 6 beautiful children together. I have lived with these headaches along with many other symptoms and pains sine I was 13. Well as you can imagine you can't just lay in bed with headaches with all these kids! So I was put on narcotic pain meds after all migraine treatments failed! This was 2 years ago. After 2 years on narcotics your body becomes addicted. Little did I know, I didn't know this and was stopped them cold Turkey! Big mistake! I went to the Dr and told them what happened and the Dr informed me about a medicine that would stop withdrawal and help with pain! Subutex!… So I started out on subutex about 8 months ago and the Dr kept me on it for pain control.I have told you this long story to get to my point about this rheumotology Dr Eric S . When he walks in the room he started off by saying " I see you are on subutex, what are you taking that for?" So I try and tell him and he kind of makes a gesture as if I'm lying! So I have seen this with many drs I've been to. He had already made his mind up that I'm a drug attic and hypochondriac who is saying I'm sick and in pain to get pain meds or fake a chronic sickness. If he only knew what I have been through for 12 years. Suffering, with Dr's not believing your symptoms are real! Although I've been told by many I have a autoimmune disease most likely lupus. So he asks me about my symptoms and I tell him the best I can its been 12 years ago dice all this started. But I have gotten a lot worse inthe past 2 years. He acts like he really doesn't care he is just there for a pay check. Not to help people who need it. After that he pokes all my joints and does a few exams then he sits down and say " I don't think you have lupus, and in a round about way basically tells me I'm depressed ,tired, and I have anxiety! Keep in mind he doesn't have all my laboratory tests,MRI or CT scans from the time my symptoms started! So how can he possibly know if I have lupus! I have had many design tell me I have many findings of lupus on examination and lab work for 12 years but he is going by a couple test I've had done at the er. So I start crying and he tells me " you act like you are upset that you don't have a disease "! No I'm upset because I have to go home and suffer in severe pain, cannot hardly get out of bed and take care of my kids, I don't sleep because I'm in pain constantly and just getting worse by the day. When I wake up from my 2 hour sleep my hands are so stiff and painful I can't open or close them, I can't hardly move because I'm bent over with all my joints stiff my legs shake as I try to stand but he wonders why I'm upset! Oh and there's nothing wrong with me according to him but i need to get into a deep sleep! So I ask about my labs and rashes on my body which happen to be mild at the appt. But I know in about a week will be all over my hands and face,chest, and back. But I haven't been in the sun for months because it makes the rash worse like I explained to him! I asked why is my liver enzymes been high for 12 years off and on? His reply " do you drink alchohol often ?" Are you serious!!!! I have never drank alcohol in my life!!!!! So as you can see he made up his mind about me long before he heard my problems! He thought I was a young tired, drug addicted, alchoholic, with 6 kids from different men! Well he was wrong. I'm a wife who has only been with her husband, a stay at home mother who homeschools her 6 children, and doesn't let them out of her sight , who has never did drugs, never drank a drop of alchohol , and who happens to have a illness that has been ignored and misdiagnosed! So a word of advice if you see this Dr make sure you get a second opinion! A true physician listens with compassion, not judging you by a medicine you take. Also a true physician has a passion to help their patients find out whats wrong and listening to what the patient thinks is wrong because usually the patient knows a lot more about what is going on than the Dr after all we are the one's who live with the illness every day! I also was in the er for a ovarian cyst and the nurse asked me if I had lupus, I said I don't know but why did u ask me that? She told me she had it and knew lupus when she seen it! She told me go to 100 rheumatologist until you find one who listens to u and diagnosis you! She too had been told it was all in her head and went undiagnosed for years! But I will find someone who will help me sooner or later! I know without a doubt I have a autoimmune disease and I will find a Dr to diagnose me! So if you are told by this Dr nothing is wrong keep searching!
