Dr. Eric Alan Steckler, MD

If you are a person of color (Black) I would not advise you go to him. During our first session, he asked me if I needed a “note” for something. In addition, when he prescribed me medication he said “these are worth nothing on the street so you cannot sell them or get addicted”. Like what???? What medical professional says that to a patient. I really wanted help but I’m not going back to a doctor who would insinuate something like that.

Dr. Steckler started working with my son when he was 10 years old. My son is now 22 and thanks to Dr Steckler (our family refers to him as the Miracle Worker) my son is thriving. We went down a long and painful Aspergers path for 8+ years (with Dr. Steckler. Our family was in his office weekly. My son would meet with Dr. Steckler one week and then my husband and I would meet with him the following week. Dr. Steckler gave us strength and hope and the determination to keep working and helping our son. I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Steckler FOREVER!!!

His office is a mess, he is disorganized and unprofessional. He over medicated my son to the point where he poisoned his little system. As a parent, I trusted this man to help my kid for years (he was 8 when he started with him), and Steckler misdiagnosed him! Steckler is combative, opinionated, rude and childish. It was devastating our son. Following an altercation with him, my husband fired him. Thanks God, because we found the right therapist and a wonderful psychiatrist. Our son is now a happy productive member of society! If you have a little one or teen with issues, don't take your child to him. You will regret it for years.

Have been seeing Dr. Steckler for almost 10 years now, and to be honest, I really couldn't be happier or more satisfied with the level of care I have received. Of course I have tried an array of drugs prescribed by him, most of which were great and extremely helpful, and some of which... well, were not the best experience. However, I have found that he is not the type of doctor to force a medication on you even if you're not having a good reaction to whatever it may be that you are currently taking. If I had a child would I bring them to Dr. Steckler for treatment? Yes absolutely. I've had my ups and downs, but in all regard, he's the only doctor I have seriously trusted to manage my disorders and medications.

His office is like a bad episode of Hoarders. If clutter and things piled EVERYWHERE bothers you than stay far, faaaaaaaaar away from his office. He's quirky and a little unprofessional in my opinion. I had a hard time taking him seriously. He can be quick to judge and when he gets something in his head, good luck trying to convince him otherwise. He wasn't for me. I moved on.

I have had Dr. Steckler for over 14 years and he is one of my favorite Doctors. Has always been willing to see me last minute, makes sure I am doing well on whatever meds I have. Very through in making sure I am on track emotionally and physically. I have referred him many times.
