Dr. Strauss came across as clear and competent. However, I was uncomfortable that he repeatedly rested his hand on my knee when speaking with me. That was not necessary for him to make his points. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt, I felt that he could have shown more respect by keeping his hands to himself, except during a physical examination.

Dr. Strauss is caring, understanding, skillful, gifted surgeon. You can’t do any better if you need knee or shoulder surgery. Dr. Strauss is the best of the best in his field!

I am an extremely active guy in my 50's. Years of wear and tear led to some arthritis in the inside of my knee. I saw a number of ortho surgeons who told me my best bet was a knee replacement. Then I saw Dr. Strauss!! In an effort to keep me doing what I love and avoid the need for a replacement, Dr Strauss discussed a high tibial osteotomy with me. He cut my bone and realigned my leg to unload the damaged area. Now 6 months later I am feeling great! I am back training and can't wait to finish my next triathalon. Dr Strauss is the absolute best! He is smart, personable and very skilled. I couldn't be happier with the treatment I received and my outcome!

I had to see Dr Strauss for an injury to my shoulder which occurred while playing tennis. I saw a local orthopedic guy who barely spent 5 minutes with me. My experience with Dr Strauss was the complete opposite. He was friendly, incredibly thorough and spent a lot of time reviewing my MRI and explaining the reason for my pain and limited motion. We talked about different treatments and he recommended trying an injection and physical therapy before surgery. Very refreshing to have a surgeon whose first instinct wasn't to cut. When I got a call from him the next day to see how I was feeling I realized that Dr Strauss is likely the best doctor I have ever seen. If I end up needing surgery I am confident he is the right guy to do it!!

I injured my knee playing football in college and underwent a number of surgeries in my 20s. In my mid 30s knee became painful and swollen due to the development of early arthritis. I saw a number of orthopedic doctors who told me to modify my activities and wait until I was old enough for a knee replacement. After an extensive internet search I found Dr Eric Strauss - a cartilage surgeon with an expertise in knee preservation procedures. Thank goodness!!! After an extensive first office visit where Dr Strauss thoroughly outlined my options, together we decided on an osteotomy where my bones would be realigned and a cartilage graft implantation to treat my early arthritis. I am now 2 years following surgery and am doing remarkably great. I have my life back!! I have been able to exercise and play sports with little to no pain. I am extremely grateful to Dr Strauss and his team for the expert care I received. You are the man Dr Strauss!!!!

On one fateful evening, I tragically pivoted my left knee while playing full court indoor basketball. Before even realizing what had happened, my knee buckled and felt hopelessly stuck in a bent position. It felt as if something was caught inside the joint. I could not bear weight nor imagine the possibilities of my future athletic endeavors. I went to the ER, but to no avail. It was not until I met Dr. Strauss that my concerns were addressed immediately. Upon speaking with him, his warm demeanor and energetic presence resonated with me. I could tell he was genuinely interested in returning me back to hitting soaring drives on the fairway, dunking a basketball with ease, and squatting/deadlifting 4/5+ plates, respectively. I appreciated how Dr. Strauss treated me like a high level athlete and listened to all of my concerns without interruption. He took his time to explain my MRI and showed me where my meniscus was supposed to be prior to injury on a medical model of the knee. I… never felt rushed nor nervous in his office. Since my knee was stuck, I was a prime surgical candidate for the meniscus repair, which was performed inside-outside aka the GOLD STANDARD. In fact, prior to seeing Dr. Strauss, I went online to look for a top orthopedic surgeon; lo and behold he recently published an article titled "Clinical outcomes following surgically repaired bucket-handle meniscus tears" in a popular peer-reviewed and evidence-based medical journal. Coincidence? I think not. I must also mention that he is a preserver and really wanted to repair my meniscus back to baseline instead of removing it, which was suggested by another surgeon at another orthopedic hospital. On the day of surgery, I was taken to the holding area exactly on time and was seen by Dr. Strauss again whom explained his game plan to unlock my knee and get me back in action. Surgery went well and the followup visits have been attentive and caring. Overall, Dr. Strauss is one of a kind and just a really cool guy who is a master of fixing sports injuries and enjoys getting to know his patients, which is becoming a rarity in today's medical ecosystem.

I recently saw Dr Strauss as a second opinion for my shoulder. I had seen another ortho surgeon who without even examining me told me that I needed surgery. My experience with Dr Strauss was exactly the opposite. He came into the exam room with a smile and introduced himself by his first name. We discussed my shoulder issues, he did a thorough examination and went over my MRI in detail. While I might need surgery we are going to try a course of physical therapy and medication. I am hopeful that this works but if I end up needing an operation I am confident that Dr Strauss is the right guy to do it. Dr. Eric Strauss at NYU is fantastic and is the kind of doctor you want.

I was referred to Dr. Strauss after I had majority of my meniscus removed. Right when he saw my leg he knew I would have to have some kind of surgery. He listened to all the questions I had about the procedure, was open and honest about how my surgery and recovery would be. Day of my surgery he came in explained everything again to me, my mom and my grandmother. He called the day after surgery to see how I was feeling and that was very much appreciated. I was scared of how my scar would look and it doesn't even look like he did anything. He always has a smile on his face when I see him and never rushes when I am in the room with him. I am very grateful for him and highly recommend him to anyone that needs an orthopedic surgeon.

After being told by my first orthopedic surgeon that during surgery he had to remove pretty much my whole meniscus I was very worried that my knee was going to deteriorate and end up requiring a replacement at a young age. I found Dr Strauss and he talked me through a meniscus transplantation where I would receive a donor's meniscus. I had the surgery 6 months ago and am doing remarkably well. I have zero pain and normal function. Dr Strauss was superb throughout the whole process. He is patient, kind and really on top of everything. I couldn't be happier. Dr Strauss is truly an excellent ortho surgeon.

I tore my ACL playing basketball and truly thought my days on the court were over. A colleague who had been treated by Dr Eric Strauss gave me his name and number. From minute one I knew this was my guy. The office visit was great with Dr Strauss spending a good amount of time with me and my girlfriend explaining my injury (showed me my MRI and pointed things out on a knee model). My surgery went smoothly and while the early recovery stunk I am back doing what I love 6 months later. Dr Strauss is the best ACL surgeon out there!!!
