Dr. Eric D Thomas, MD

Eric D. Thomas, MD, works with both patients and resident physicians as part of the WK Academic Internal Medicine Clinic.  

As an internal medicine physician, Dr. Thomas treats patients with diseases like diabetes and upstream conditions like high blood sugar, obesity, high blood pressure and high total cholesterol. Any one or combination of these conditions can increase one’s risk for diabetes, stroke and heart disease. Dr. Thomas believes in a personalized outpatient treatment experience for every person that can prevent the need for hospital admission.  

Dr. Thomas also helps train new physicians through his work in academic medicine. He brings many years of leadership experience to his roles with the internal medicine residency program and ambulatory care. Resident physicians work with Dr. Thomas to learn about care continuity that typically results in better outcomes and greater patient satisfaction 

Dr. Thomas has local connections as a graduate of …Captain Shreve High School and his service in Desert Storm. After college, he earned a medical degree at Wayne State University. His internal medicine and pediatrics residency was at Detroit Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Thomas is a board-certified internist (American Board of Internal Medicine) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). 

Outside of work, Dr. Thomas enjoys playing basketball, listening to music and spending time with his family.
