I have been a patient for years and have received excellent care from Dr. Thompson. I have experienced severe gastrointestinal issues which required surgery. Dr. Thompson was professional, honest, thorough, and caring. I am thriving due to his expertise.

Dr. Thompson is a good Doctor. The wait time is longer than it should be. It is hard to get an appointment with him, even as an established Patient, because he stays very busy and is a good Gastroenterologist. He is very polite, yet firm, doesn't smile alot because he is serious about his profession. He truly cares about his Patients. If you are looking for someone to advocate with you regarding your care, he is the perfect choice. The staff changes alot, the new Nurse wasn't the most pleasant, but; tolerable.

He is the most thorough, professional physician my husband or I ever had. He is intuitive and really SEES his patient. recommend highly.

I have to agree with the previous comments that state his staff is rude. In addition to their rude manner they are not very knowledgeable regarding process and procedures in their own workplace. I also agree with the previous comment that stated you will need to advocate for yourself with this team, they do a horrible job of following up with patients even when it's an important manner (unless its regarding paying your bill). They pressured me about a bill that was an error on their end. I didn't expect an apology, but they never offered one either. I can't comment on his demeanor during appointments because he always sends his PA in or have his coordinator call back with answers .

Dr Thompson may me feel at easy. Procedure went well.

I am a young woman on SSDI/Medicare for a chronic, systemic, degenerative disease that is ruining my quality of life. My gastro problems are part of a larger disease, yet that doesn't diminish the significance of my gastro problems. I have had several office visits with Dr Thompson, and a gastro hospitization for which HE shouldve taken the issue seriously early on (he didnt).Additionally, he failed to be an advocate to the hospital staff to pay attention that this long term gastro hospitalization was not only life threatening for me, but it greatly impacted my overall systemic disease. (And still does). He comes across detached, robotic, lacking empathy/care...just going through the motions to get to the next patient. Takes poor notes that he forwards to other specialists I've asked him to keep in the loop.Bc of my systemic illness, I've seen specialists in every field from NC to Hopkins--MOST act like they care and want to help me--even if they say my overall health is overwhelming… and possibly over their expertise--I can respect that! Dr Thompson is honestly at the bottom of the list of Drs I have seen. That's sad. Maybe he helps some ppl...IDK. But, my experience is that it seems he's running a 'patient mill,' ie, how many can I see in a day and bill/get paid. Plus, I've never had one interaction with him where his cell doesnt ring several times EACH visit. He answers EVERY time and says its 'my nurse...' Then steps out and and I hear him outside the door on obviously personal calls. I am not exaggerating on this. That's a sign he has no respect for the patient he is treating. Or my illness, anyway. I'm still healing from my gastro illness, so changing a gastro dr now doesn't seem feasible...till this is better. However, had I known bf how he was as a physician, I would've stayed far away and gone to another gastro. I'm sorry, Dr T. Also, I just read other reviews, and a similar story has been said about you for years. Shame on me for not researching you out bf coming to you in the first place. Maybe you are good, Dr T. If so, I hope you read reviews and take them to heart. To potential patients...do you homework bf making an appointment.

Dr. Thompson was very professional, thorough, respectful and compassionate. He communicated in a clear way that gave me an understanding of my health status, options and reasons for recommendations. This enabled me to make informed decisions about my health. In addition, I perceive that he continually updates his medical knowledge; and stays well-informed on best approaches for preventative measures to protect health along with top approaches to treat and recover health. Despite being his last appointment for the day; he remained pleasant and attentive in providing an in-depth examination along with the proper follow up discussion. I trust and feel safe in his capability as a medical professional.

I have been a patent of his for 2 years I really like him and his staff is wonderful. . He has a sweet bedside manner,not very talkative but to the point.But all in all he is a great Doctor.I would not want him or his staff any other way.I even travel out of my way just to see him because I have a lot of trust in him and his ability.
