Dr. Eric William Vanostrand, MD

No Diagnosis on my son at all and forms were sent to DMVdenied his license. He has no symptoms or episodes of passing out. His heart is great his blood pressure great. He eats very healthy and goes to the gym five to six days a week. He lost his job and is having a hard time finding a job without his license. I would understand if there was something wrong with him but there’s not. All test came out clear and said he looked great. So why ? He’s 22 healthy nothing has happened in five months so why? Please explain?

I will forever be grateful to this wise and compassionate man. When asked to evaluate my 86-year old mother’s competence, he put her at ease so she could do her best. When it was clear that there were no concerns, he wisely stopped the formal assessment rather than subject her to further stress. He was kind and wrote a professional and strong report on her behalf.

I've seen him a few times for an issue that is still not fully diagnosed. Every time I see him, he makes it seem as if I am wasting his time. I've never had an appointment that lasted more than 10 minutes. He does not take questions seriously and seems to loath patients who do even a minimal amount of research online. He marks his replies to emails as 'reply disabled' which makes it impossible to reply back to him and difficult to have a conversation with any continuity. It really makes me feel like I'm not worth his time. Despite him being my primary neurologist, I doubt I'll ever hear from him again unless its me who reaches out first.

I went in for a newly diagnosed chronic condition, which different doctors were attributing to different causes. Once Dr. Van Ostrand made up his mind about the cause after a brief examination, he was unwilling to entertain any of the other doctors' hypotheses, unwilling to look at aggravating causes, and started treating any questions as me second-guessing him. I was asking simple, straightforward questions trying to understand my condition, but he accused me of being "confrontational" and promptly ended the appointment. I've never been treated so rudely and callously by a doctor.

I've seen Dr Van Ostrand a number of times for my migraines, and I will never return to him. He has zero empathy or understanding for what I am going thru and after trying their standard drug protocol indicated he had no other ideas to help me. I was able to get into another Kaiser Neurologist who took the time repeatedly to review my file and work with me on other treatment options.

I have been a patient of Dr. Van Ostrand's for about a year. I feel he shows very little empathy and his follow up is less that expected. I now have a new doctor.
