Dr. Eric James Zoog, MD

On Labor Day of 2019, my husband, Duane, was driving to a local funeral home for visitation for a long time friend who had passed away, and he suddenly started feeling very dizzy and nauseated. He just happened to be near Rankin Merit Health Emergency room so he pulled in. He barely made it in the doors when he collapsed and was rushed into an ER room. At that point his BP had dropped drastically to 60 over 40 and the Dr. on duty there realized that he was not going to survive if he was not transported to a more well equipped hospital. So they immediately rushed him by ambulance to Merit Health Central in Jackson, where thankfully Dr. Eric Zoog was the Emergency Room Doctor on duty. I followed the ambulance all the way there, praying so hard that my husband was still alive because they had not given him much of a chance. The paramedics rushed Duane into the ER, and at that time he barely even had a blood pressure at all and the chance of him surviving was almost nothing. I ran into… waiting room as he was unloaded from the ambulance and I’m not exaggerating when I say there was at least 30 to 40 people In the waiting room waiting to be seen and Dr. Eric Zoog was the ONLY Emergency Room Doctor on duty on this busy Labor Day Holiday!!! My husband was in very serious condition and with Dr. Zoog being the only Doctor there and a whole waiting room of patients to be seen, he could have easily gotten overwhelmed and just written my husband off...but thankfully this Brilliant Dr. was determined to save my husband.!!! It was late at night so there were no Surgeons at the hospital, but Dr. Zoog knew that my husband would not have any chance of survival if he did not act fast, so he went into the back of the ER and “devised” a make shift temporary Pace Maker and quickly Implanted it in through Duane’s neck which kept him alive through the night until a Surgeon arrived in the morning. They rushed him into surgery and implanted a permanent Pace Maker into Duane. He was placed into ICU and placed in a medically induced coma for four days and slowly brought back out of it and when he was fully awake, he was alert and feeling fairly good, other than being sore from surgery, but he was alive which was a miracle in itself because of his condition when he was rushed into the ER.!!! If it had not been for Dr. Eric Zoog being the ER Doctor there that night, there’s no doubt that my husband would not have survived for even a few more hours. But this Brilliant, dedicated, and compassionate Doctor saved Duane’s life that night. He was determined not to let him die, even though Duane’s condition was so bad and even though he had so many other people to treat... I’m so very, very thankful that GOD chose to place Dr. Eric Zoog on duty in the Emergency Room that busy Holiday night, and I will forever be eternally grateful to this wonderful man and Brilliant Doctor who took the time to go into the back room and “Literally create“ a piece of life saving equipment to keep my husband alive until he could be taken into surgery the next morning. I used him through telehealth and was given a 30 minute session with him, which I didn’t need. He got to the point, I got to the point and there was no need for 30 minutes, but it was available to me if I wanted it. I found him to be very knowledgeable, and was 100% pleased with my visit. I would definitely use him again.
