Dr Coady and her staff performed an evaluation of my husband and seemed to miss the mark on many levels. I would hazard a guess that they do not deal with many stroke sufferers. In their short exposure to a complex personality, they made several generic assumptions and recommendations countering previous evaluations. One happened to be the ability to operate a motor vehicle. He had passed the disability evaluation, written and driving test previously, and despite the assurance from his spouse that he was a very safe diver his license was suspended. This resulted in a lengthy process and over a $500 out of pocket expenses, in addition to a huge inconvenience, to reinstate his license - not to mention the mental anguish caused to an already fragile self esteem The report we received had many errors, several of which were blatently inaccurate recordings of what was said. I would suggest that Erica record her interviews rather than rely on notes and memory since we waited… a rather long time for the actual rerport and review. In such a short exposure of only 6 hours, not all with one staff, to a personality - it seems that more helpful recommendations and less blanket black and white findings would be helpful. How about recommending reevaluation rather than just suspending a license? How about looking further into a personality type before determining that a response is inappropriate or odd? Also maybe Erica should read "A Stroke of Insight" before suggesting that at 8 years, a stoke victum has no chance of improving their outcomes. With his renewed speech therapy I am seeing daily improvements.
