Dr. Erica Nicole Donnan, MD

Deeply disappointed with the policies at Eugene GI following symptoms which required more urgent attention. I've been seeing Dr. Donnan at Eugene GI for upper GI issues and I really appreciated her care, plus her PA Prieto. I had an upper endoscopy and the nurses were all very kind and made a scary experience much better. But recently I had other GI symptoms which resulted in a visit to Riverbend, who referred me to Peacehealth GI, but I mentioned I was a patient at Eugene GI. A colonoscopy was recommended and I called Eugene GI for scheduling. They could not see me till June, while Peacehealth GI could see me the following week. I accepted the earlier appointment for my mental health, as we're inundated with headlines about millennials and colon cancer. I am not a person who could deal with that uncertainty for a month. Later, I was contacted by Eugene GI to hear that I'm being dropped as a patient since I had this procedure with Peacehealth GI. I gave them my reasons and told them… I'd prefer to keep my care with them, but they are not allowing me to continue my care there since I had a single procedure with Peacehealth GI. This action feels punitive and uncompassionate. The office manager said this is the policy of Dr. Donnan. I would not have expected that from her, but if that is truly her policy and her stance in consideration of my context, then I would not want her as my doctor anyway. The manager said I would not have been dropped if I had the procedure at Riverbend, so it doesn't make any logical sense to drop me as a patient for having one at Peacehealth just days later. This is just to punish patients for daring to seek help elsewhere and not wait months for them. If you need care at Eugene GI, prepare to have long waits for appointments and procedures, plus no empathy if you need care sooner from another provider. They are in no hurry to help you.
