I have found Dr. Mitchell to be caring and compassionate. She is truly a wonderful listener. I highly recommend to any patient.

Dr. Mitchell is truly a wonderful psychiatrist - very intelligent, compassionate, and always provides excellent care. She is always up to date with cutting edge treatments and will go above and beyond for her. I always recommend her to others in need of excellent care.

Dr. Mitchell is an outstanding psychiatrist. She is extremely competent, she cares deeply about her patients, and is committed to giving the best care possible. I would absolutely recommend her to any friends or family who need mental health treatment.

Misogynistic body shaming of young doctors? It seems like she has too much time on her hands to shame doctors for acting human.

Incredibly judgmental

Your mental health is not your concern. Poor follow up and communication with others on your care team. Doesn't ever return phone calls. Don't even sit down in her office you will be back out the door in a minute.

After an inpatient admission at the Hennepin County Medical Center in 2017, my 80+-year-old mother's HCMC inpatient psychiatrist (who does not treat outpatients) recommended that my mother see his colleague, Dr. Erica Mitchell, for outpatient follow-up. My mother has now seen Dr. Mitchell for one year, and I accompany my mother to all her appointments (at my mother's request) as an informal patient advocate. Dr. Mitchell is young (early-mid-30s?), but she has an impressive educational background and appears to have a good rapport with elderly women. My mother lives in a senior facility, and Dr. Mitchell discusses my mother's concerns about her living situation in a respectful but friendly (at times even humorous) manner. Some others commenting here apparently think Dr. Mitchell is condescending, but I have not witnessed this: despite her Ivy education, in some ways Dr. Mitchell seems very down-to-earth. When my mother was still a new patient of Dr. Mitchell's, her primary… physician suggested a non-urgent psych medication change that I wanted approved (and prescribed) by Dr. Mitchell. After a cautious but appropriate length of time, Dr. Mitchell added this medication.

She really enjoys being right about things. Always quick with a snarky comment about how you've thought incorrectly about your treatment. Takes little consideration to what other physicians have assessed previously. Out of the blue she just referred me to another doctor with no explanation or reasoning ending months and months of patient doctor interaction. Yet she is quite smart and quick witted and if your the right patient for her she could be quite useful. Keep your expectations low and be prepared to be forwarded to another physician which can be like going to a job interview each and every visit. She will challenge you after a brief introductory and assessment period. Maybe I just failed the test...

Dr. Mitchell has a wall full of Ivy League degrees on her wall. She might talk to them more than the 2 minutes out of the 20 minutes appointment she will spend with you. But if she gets bored for fun she might try to pin a personality disorder that was never, ever there and one that your therapists who has seen you much longer adamantly disagrees with. I waited so long to get out of her care and was on the waiting list for the U of MN Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic and boy was I overjoyed when they called to tell me I had moved up the waiting list to be seen in 4 months. Then I told her I was changing clinics. All of sudden she wanted to engage with me. She talked to me and actually treated me like I was a functioning human being rather than a more preferable lab rat. I felt as if "What are we great friends all of a sudden?" It was very disingenuous. Whew! I am out of there and have great care now.

This girl genius see you for 3 minutes. Treats all w/a one size fits everyone approach. Humorless & uncaring. If you didn't graduate from an Ivy League College her motto is "Here's Looking Down on You!" Didn't know what she was doing & thought for fun she'd play w/ my life & add another diagnosis that was never there. I played my cards close to my chest as I was on a few waiting lists for a LONG time to get away from her. Whew! When the call came to get on board to a great clinic. My heart skipped a beat. I never sent over her notes. If only I could give her no star that would be what she truly deserves. I have a great new team. I'm so joyful to be rid of this woman who should be doing research in an ivy covered turret somewhere away from patients. My last two visits she warmed slightly. I wanted to say, "what am I your girlfriend now or something?" I was a Phi Beta Kappa and went to prep school. Dr. Mitchell treated me as if I were an imbecilic cretin who lived in a box. She should… have a Mr. Yuck sticker on her. STAY AWAY!
