Dr. Erich Jurgen Lingenfelter, MD

Before surgery the doctor and staff were caring and explained what was going on but what a terrible after surgery experience. After they got the insurance money and 2 months or so of no relief they basically completely cut contact and closed the book like they were tired of dealing with the issue. The pain hasn't subsided since surgery and that was over 3 months ago. His nurse Tina will not return calls and we are not talking about bombarding her with voicemails or any other communication. For example, recently over a 2 and a half week period two calls were made, the first was a call (voicemail) per the doctor’s request with an update on medication that was prescribed to let him know that it was not working, the pain that was still there with no improvement, and to follow-up on his next steps which were basic referrals he wanted if the medication wasn’t working. A second call was made over a week later as a follow-up to the first voicemail because there had been no return call and yet… again that voicemail remains unanswered. There has still been no call back and this is not the first time in the course of treatment that Tina has done this. In order to get a response and have any action taken, not by Tina, a third call had to be made but this time to the front office. When she does call back she gives answers to questions without first speaking with the doctor and when pressed she will then speak with the doctor and call back, other times she will ignore your calls without communicating that she is waiting to hear from the doctor, she will make you feel like you are addicted to pain medication and make you feel bad that you are in pain, she will completely ignore you until you go above her and then she will make excuses as to why she didn’t call you back. She flat out lied when she said she updated the medical chart after multiple requests were made both over the phone and in person. There was an was an incorrect entry in the medical file and when they were asked to correct it both Tina and the Doctor said it would be taken care of, in fact Tina stated she had corrected it, yet over a month after the request it had not been changed and if the front office hadn’t checked on it, I doubt it ever would have been corrected. They will leave you out to dry once they have their money and will not care about any after care after they tire of you. The fact that we are having to look for another doctor to try and come up with some sort of relief says all that needs to be said. In my opinion, Tina doesn’t care about patients after they have had surgery and possibly even before surgery. She has no accountability because she is “just a nurse” so it falls back on the doctor. This is just a brief overview of the issues that have occurred in this office over the course of over 4 months. Dr. Lingenfelter is a great surgeon but he has lackluster staff with poor bedside manner, his nurse practitioner has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced, and a nurse who fails completely in the areas of communication and compassion.

He did a great job on my right shoulder did not have much trouble had one place that opened up and kept draining but they got it taken care of and I am ready to have left one done soon

Dr Lingenfelter was amazing. I broke all bones in my elbow and severed all the ligaments as well. There was only one other Dr in this area that could perform the surgery that needed to be done. I am extremely pleased with the outcome and highly recommend him as a surgeon.

Having both shoulders repaired by Dr. Lingenfelter within a two year period. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He is Kansas City's "shoulder guy", so understand he is in VERY high demand for his excellent work. So don't expect next day service. Also, he gets right to the point and if he doesn't think you need surgery, he will recommend PT..

So, after a few visits (months apart, to discuss my shoulder pain we decided to move forward with it. Rotator cuff surgery was scheduled but turns out a bone spur was the culprit. That, along with arthritis and calcification build up, was removed!! Shorter recovery!!!!! Whew! So relieved our decision was the best option to fix my pain.

This guy will tell you he is not for the company or you. Then proceed to twist your words and reaction to what he said in a work comp evaluation. Be very careful and mindful of what of This. He will lie on you without hesitation. If possible request to see someone else. This guy is a liar.

Worst doctor I've ever seen or met in my 50 years of life. Ignored everything I said .lied to the insurance company. I'm in worst shape now than before I seen him 2 years ago

He was an amazing doctor. After going to multiple doctors to help figure out the best plan of action for my shoulder he figured out what needed to be done in just one visit and had GREAT bed side manner I would recommend him to ANYONE looking for a ortho doctor!

If being professional, responsive & polite are things you want when looking for a doctor & office avoid this one like the plague. See all the reviews from different sources online. Multiple complaints about staff being rude, slow, unresponsive. When dealing with workers comp, FMLA there are deadlines. Even with months in advance notice Tina did not get everything to the adjuster in time. Rather than an apology she was obnoxious, confrontational & blamed everything on the Dr. I don't know if she's Dr Lingenfelter's wife, mother, girlfriend or related another way but when we notified them we wanted no further contact from her because of her beyond unprofessional behavior surgery was cancelled, 3 DAYS BEFORE! AFTER WAITING SINCE JUNE! Dr. Lingenfelter did not bother contacting me to find out the situation. I offered email & phone records to verify all contact w office. Patient well being was zero concern. I would think that would be an ethics violation. This office has a reputation of… being completely disorganized, slow & needing to be babysat in order to get anything done. Boy, from my experience it's true! Tina will not have any patient contact by email, only phone. Most people prefer email, more convenient. Also shows a history & what's said. In all the circumstances I've dealt with people that only use the phone they have a reason. You can't prove what they said. This office needs to record their conversations. I bet their reviews go up significantly if the staff knows they are being recorded! I tried to complain to the office manager, they don't have one, haven't for awhile. I wonder why? I was sent to the Asst front desk manager who PUT ME ON SPEAKER PHONE!! I had to ask her to take me off. Privacy issues, a doctors office? Am I the only person that has a real problem with that? I was told by a staff member their system keeps track of your number whether you get to a person or not. If you need to keep following up to get things done be sure to call private! Appts are fun too. We had a 3:30 and finally got in after 5!!! Maybe one day Dr. Lingenfelter will take a few minutes to google himself & see the complaints about his staff that are consistent for years. Take a close look at any 5 star reviews anywhere. You will notice a majority sound like ads, not like legitimate reviews. I even saw a positive one that still mentioned issues with the staff!! Dr. Lingenfelter needs to pull his blinders off or his partners need to get involved before the staff destroys their business. It's unfortunate that Dr. Lingenfelter has a good reputation as a surgeon but is allowing his personal/office relationships to interfere rather than taking the time to hear all sides to see if maybe there's really a problem! Sad...
