Dr. Ericka Shannon Sikkenga, DO

Dr. Sikkenga is amazing. She is courteous, very competent and extremely genuine. She has always treated me like family. Her office staff is very polite, and for start to finish you feel like there is a team effort to make your visit the best possible.

She is great!! I love her! So glad she is my OBGYN

I was 40 years old with a history of 2 miscarriages. The only reason I sought out a new Dr. was because mine retired. Dr. Sikkenga (Kipp at the time) came recommended By a friend who thought she was nice.... first off she told me that It wasn't a high risk pregnancy, even with my age and history. Scheduled visits were always accompanied by an intern shadowing. She walked in like nothing mattered and everything was a joke. Several times she told me That I was measuring fine yet never did she pull out a tape measure and measure me at all. I was confused by this. I had problems early on but when I brought them to her attention she dismissed me with the comment, "your not as young as you used to be." She made me feel like I was being a cry baby for even complaining. At 5 months along I requested for her to take me off work but she refused. I could barely walk without feeling that my baby was going to fall out.The pressure bearing down on me was immense to the point where I could not even… grocery shop without using an electric scooter that Meijer provided. I tried to work but I just couldn't do it. So, I took myself off. I was miserable around the clock! I literally felt as though I was in a struggle for my life all the time. I felt like I was dying. But I pushed through because I thought I should be able to handle it....according to the Dr., I was fine. Turned out I had gestational diabetes. My first visit after being diagnosed, she never even mentioned it. She was practically running out the door with her intern when I called her back to talk about the diabetes. She was brief and made it seem like I was an annoyance. She showed little interest or concern. She was more interested in being cute and funny in front of her audience. at some point she decided that I should have non stress tests done regularly until the end of my pregnancy. So I set 2 appts. up a week with the receptionist Tuesdays and Friday I believe it was. On Monday I received an automated reminder call. On Thursday I did not receive that call but on Friday I went anyway because I felt so rotten. I have been unable to eat , drink, poop, pee, sleep, walk...Literally nothing was going in and nothing was coming out! Not normal! So I showed up on friday anyway~ Nope they didn't have me scheduled.. But they squeezed me in. Next thing I know I'm being rushed down to labor and delivery. BP 150/110. Dr. Sikkenga was sitting there in admitting B S-ing with the girls there. She says" what the h_ _l are you doing here?" Professional huh? Then I'm in a room after having blood drawn and anti-seizure meds given. She walks in and says..."You little sh_t! , you told me you'd be having this baby early!" Again....Professional huh? Yep Not only did I have gestational diabetes, I also had pre-ecclampsia and HELLP syndrome. The attending nurse was the one who let me in on the fact that I was seriously ill! Dr. Ericka Sikkenga left for the evening then came back the next day...in street clothes broke my water and left the hospital. 15 minutes later I was having the baby. A month early! now if she had gotten to know me or my history she would have known not to leave that hospital! But I was glad that she was not the one to deliver my baby! I was glad at this point that she left so that someone more competent would be the one to bring my precious 5' lb 10 oz. little girl into this world. It is almost three years later but this is something I think about all the time! My daughter and I could have died. I can't believe I put up with her for so long. I did try to change Dr.'s at one point but no body would touch me! So what choice did I have. I felt stuck. She seems nice and funny and personable when you meet her you want to like her. But don't take the chance! It's not worth your life.

Worst experience ever. Very rude Dr. who didn't take a minute to go over the procedure. Came across as uncaring and spent minimal time with me. Brought an intern in with her and never asked me if it was ok. Dr., intern, and medical assistant we looking as procedure was done. I felt humilated and violated. I had a very young immature medical assistant asking verh personal questions that the Dr. should have asked. I will be sending in a formal complaint. I refuse to go back and even get my test results. I would never send anyone to her. HORRIBLE experience that I have never had until I was seen by her.

Great doctor, caring, professional, friendly, easy to talk to, and knowledgable in her field.

I love my doctor. She is sooo easy to talk to about any concerns. She knows what she is doing. I reccommend her to everyone.
