Over two years ago Dr. Cardoso performed my first craniotomy on an emergency basis. Dr. Cardoso’s has an amazing ability to tell patients what they need to know and his thoughtful, pleasant and self-assured, albeit humble, manner helps put patients at ease. Communication between neurosurgeons and patients matters a great deal prior to surgery and after. When the neurosurgeon is extraordinarily skilled and exercises great judgment as well you know you have been blessed.

I had a VP shunt placed by Dr. Cardoso in 2012, during the surgery there were complications but he was able to save my life and I was able to make a full recovery with NO brain damage. During that time and after he has always given the BEST care! In 2016, I had my daughter and due to possible complications with the shunt and other issues my on/gyn wanted to do a c-section, while recovering from that, Dr. Cardoso called and came to see me and my daughter to make sure all was well, I cannot speak of this man without becoming overwhelmed with such gratuitous emotion!!! My guardian angel on earth! ??????

Back in 1991 I was experiencing horrific headaches for months, and early one morning was forced to call 911. I was rushed to Brookdale hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where they took X-Ray's, and afterwards, a group of doctor's told me I had a large mass growing in the back of my skull. About an hour later, a handsome young doctor. with a neat beard, came walking into my hospital room -- and in a European accent I never heard before he said, "Hello, I'm Doctor Cardoso. The next morning, this charming, urbane doctor, removed a benign tumor, that took him several hours to complete, because he patiently picked at a dangerous piece of tumor that was growing down my spine -- one that could've been detrimental to my motor skills and other convenient functions. Well, 28 years later I'm married, with a beautiful daughter. And though the tumor messed up my equilibrium, and has left me with a few side effects, I owe my overall well-being to Doctor Cardoso. Speaking of my daughter, 19 years ago,… the day she was born, I was in the cafeteria at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, nervously eating a sandwich, when I noticed a familiar looking doctor walking past me. I called out the name, "Doctor Cardoso!" And though he didn't remember my name, he knew exactly who I was and came and shook my hand. He asked why I was in Methodist so late at night, and when I told him my wife was upstairs delivering our baby through C-Section surgery, he smiled, took a deep breath, exhaled, and said in a gentle voice --"Removing your tumor has brought you to this wonderful moment in your life, and that brings me great joy...." I thanked him -- we embraced -- and bid each other farewell. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, Doctor Erico Cardoso, is one heaven of a man.

I would not trust any other doctor with any brain surgery that is necessary. Dr. Cardoso removed a tumor from my temporal lobe back in 2004 which could have had severe side effects. I recovered fully and quickly and was not left with any ill effects. He also removed a small tumor from my pituitary gland, and again, he did a wonderful job. I definitely owe my quality of life to Dr. Cardoso.

Dr. Erico R Cardoso is the best! I have seen the same procedure for Hydrocephalus done to other children which has not gone well for them. My child has not had one infection nor can you see the scar from the operation and every time I call Dr. Cardoso he is always available and pleasant.

Dr. Cardoso is a truly special and gifted doctor. He is not only a genius in the medical world, but he is a genuine and compassionate human being. He takes time to talk with each patient and answer any questions you may have. Which is not a common ocurence in this fast pace world we live in. He wants each patient to feel totally comfortable with any decision that is made regarding their health. He changed my life! Leaving me free of pain, and filled with much peace & joy.
