Dr. Erik Richard Ensrud, MD

Dr. Ensrud is super easy to talk to. He listens well to your concerns, and finds the best method or treatment for whatever the problem is. He Extremely knowledgeable and I would highly recommend him to anyone!

It’s not often one finds a doctor who cares about your wellness. I was trying to self diagnose my injury, but when I saw Dr. Ensrud, he did not guess at my problem, but knew exactly what was wrong with me and the medicine I needed. It’s nice to have a professional that treated my problem like it was important. I would highly recommend Dr. Ensrud!

Dr. Ensrud is a Neurologist who helps me with my Muscular Dystrophy. I am now unable to work but was having a lot of difficulty with my long term disability insurance provider. They were dragging their feet approving me for benefits even though I had medical documentation to prove that I can not work anymore. They asked several of my doctors over and over for the same information. I contacted Dr. Ensrud to explain the situation and he personally contacted the insurance company by phone, email and fax to get the problem straightened out!! Considering that Dr. Ensrud is a Neurologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston (one of the best hospitals on earth), and only the 'cream of the crop' of doctors work there, he is extremely busy. The fact that he took the time and initiative to get personally involved and help me with this just blew me away. I see many doctors and invariably, if paperwork needs to be done, it gets passed off to a secretary or medical records department.… It is SO rare that a doctor would step in to make sure it was done immediately and accurately and I can't express how much I appreciated it. It made all the difference in the world and I no longer have to fight with the insurance company.

Dr. Ensrud was very bright yet also really seemed kind. It appears he is someone who other Harvard doctors are eager to learn from-a resident and fellow doctor were intently watching him examine me and what he had to say. The fellow actually spent more time with me than Dr. Ensrud, which was fine as the fellow seemed like a great doctor too-not just your average Joe MD. They were able to diagnose my condition when it had stumped other doctors. Dr. Ensrud is empathetic, but also seems to want to patient to participate in getting better with exercise etc rather than just prescribing medications. The one drawback is it was not easy to get in to see him at Brigham-I think he works mostly with veterans at the VA.

Really went through all my outside information in DETAIL. Very thorough exam, esp. on the strength testing. EXPLAINED to me what was the problem, gave me options on treatments, and was very personable. Clearly a top physician, even in Boston!

He listened to me, examined me in detail, and was able to diagnose a condition which several other doctors had missed. Very kind and intelligent.

spent 2 minutes with us in the appointment - was more interested in using his Blackberry than in our meeting. Rude, inattentive.
