Dr Erik Ray, MD

Erik Ray, M.D., is an interventional radiologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix , where he specializes in image-guided, minimally invasive techniques that assist in diagnosing and treating a wide range of cancer types. He believes in a compassionate approach to working with patients and their loved ones and collaborates closely with each patient’s multidisciplinary cancer care team to create effective, personalized treatment plans that prioritize accurate diagnoses, minimally invasive treatments and, where appropriate, prolonged longevity outcomes. Dr. Ray has more than 15 years’ experience performing many different types of interventional radiology techniques, including image-guided biopsy, liver-directed treatment and image-guided thermal ablation. He has held both academic and clinical positions in his field and is a member of multiple professional organizations, such as the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology and the Society of …Interventional Radiology. He has also published his research in peer-reviewed journals and presented on it at radiological conferences across the country. After earning his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School, he went on to a general surgery internship and a diagnostic radiology residency at Rush University Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident. He completed his training with an interventional radiology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore and a specialized fellowship in body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques at Rush University.
