Dr. Erik T Shaw, DO

From my two visits with Dr. Shaw, I don't feel that his staff cares for him too much, from what the nurses have to say about him. He comes across as dispassionate and uncaring. I do not feel comfortable having him treat my mother any longer and we are looking for another provider or clinic.

If you are like me and suffer form CRPS, you need a doctor that understands the disease down to the core. Your search is over. Dr. Shaw is AMAZING. He spent over 30 minutes speaking with me about concerns and possible treatments, even though he was most likely pressed for time due to the other doctor recently moving to another location. He was very attentive, answered ALL of my questions, and LISTENED to me. Thanks to him, I have my SCS Trial scheduled for tomorrow, and I am thankful for the ENTIRE STAFF at Shepherd Spine and Pain Institute. Having been a patient for over a year now, I ONLY have awesome things to say about these people. God bless the doctors and all staff of the Shepherd Center. I was being treated my Dr. Shaw. He gave me a treatment earlier in the day, and then did not come back to check on the results. It was at end of work day and I had to just get up from the treatment center and walked out and met Dr. Shaw walking out toward the parking garage. I was very disappointed with his treatment and attitude.

Dr Erik Shaw is the best doctor in my portfolio of (12). He has taken care of me for more than 3 years now and he literally saved me from paralysis. Dr Shaw always listens to my concerns and doesn't take anything lightly. He was the only doctor with the proactive sense to do an MRI of my brain/neck when I continued to complain of hand and arm pain after a Carpal Tunnel Release. He found that my spinal cord was compressed down to 4.5mm. Doctor's become concerned when compression is at 12mm. Dr Shaw insisted on immediate surgery to stop more compression, that would have inevitably led to paralysis. Thank God he thought to do that MRI. He is very honest about health issues; the good, the bad and the ugly. And he is very funny. I love him very much and will be forever grateful that he takes such good care of me. I can't say enough or am I equipped with the words to describe how amazing he is along with all his people at The Shepherd Center are with me and other patients. I recommend… Dr Shaw to anyone who suffers from chronic conditions due to injuries or accidents.

I saw Dr Shaw for over 7 yrs and within that time he never spent over 5-7 minutes with me for each visit. He has never looked at my injuries and when I told him I get swelling and skin discoloration during my most painful times, he told me the next time it happened to take a picture. That's the most he's ever said about my pain. After refusing to do what he wanted and have surgery, he decided I wasn't the kind of patient he wanted to see any longer, stopped all pain meds and pushed me off on his PA, who did less than he did. When I realized I was getting no care from these people, I stopped seeing them but the problem now is, finding a new pain physician who will listen and believe me, instead of reading the chart where Dr. Shaw said there's nothing wrong with me, I was just coming to him for drugs. What other doctor would be willing to see me? None. I'm now without a doctor and have given up on ever getting help. I'm just surprised that a place like Shepherd Spinal Center… would employee someone like Dr. Shaw.

Dr Shaw cured my CRPS I will say he is not just a wonderful doctor he is a great person.

Staff is really rude! Doctor don't like to listen to the patient! Even dough he give a good diagnosis he's snobby and arrogant!

Dr. Shaw is very professional and spent the necessary amount of time with me to fully understand my needs and how to proceed. Waiting time was average but overall, I would highly recommend.

Dr. Shaw has changed my life, seriously. I've seen 3 doctors who have no idea how to resolve an ongoing problem I've had for 2 years. I went to see Dr. Shaw and he has helped me finally get some relief! I can't thank him enough!

Dr. Shaw has terrible bedside manner, is highly unprofessional and has no business treating chronic pain patients.He came to my room 2x while in inpatient at Shepherd and did nothing but anger me and leave me in pain.I have nerve pain after a spinal cord injury and he had the audacity to tel me there's nothing he could do and that I would just have to kive with it and then referred me to the psychologist. Each time hte spent no more than 5 minutes with me and was condescending and rude
